Chapter 3 - NEW HOUSE

Past 6 pm.

On the streets, the lights was bright.

The neon lights flicked in the distance. The city was bustling with life.

After having his dinner, Kai took a cab and went to a residential property intermediary. After taking a look for some time at the beautiful scenery, Kai took big strides towards the company. Kai went in since their lights was on.

"How may I help you?" There was a young woman with average looks at the desk. She was dressed on a t-shirt with a badge and trousers.

"I want to rent an apartment. It's best if I can move in today or tomorrow."

"Alright, let me check it for you sir. Please wait a moment. What apartment do you need? And where? And at what price?"

Kai took a look at the tablet she was holding. There were all sorts of information on the screen.

"I am just a student and I will be leaving here for quite some time, so the price needs to be a little cheap, also I will be living here alone. The apartment also needs to be near here." Kai said because it will only take 20 minutes to walk from here to his university.

The woman began to search for him.

After about 15 minutes of searching for different apartments, rooms and even motels, Kai pointed the apartment he was satisfied with.

"This will do. Can we look at the room?" Kai asked.

"Of course sir, I'll bring you there right away." The woman said happily.

....

After looking at the rooms, Kai felt satisfied as he nodded his head in approval. He chose a single bedroom type apartment with a kitchen, dining hall with a sofa in the living room. It also comes with a bathroom. It cost him around 70,000 yen (660 usd) per month.

"Alright, this will do. Can I move in today?"

"Sure thing sir." The woman smiled at him.

"Let me just get my luggages on the hotel" Kai said to the woman.

After moving everything, and tidying things up, he nodded in satisfaction and jumped on the bed and immediately fell asleep.

...

The sun shined it's rays through the windows in the morning. The new house was very well lit.

After sleeping without any troubles, Kai woke up and decided to go buy some groceries. He is already living in his own, so he naturally needs to prepare his meals.

After taking a bath and changing his clothes. Kai locked his apartment and walked outside.

The sun was hanging above the sky, lighting up the world. The area he was in was already bustling with life. Some old people was jogging, others was dancing on the side. There were quite a lot of people, but it was never chaotic.

After tossing and turning on the streets, Kai found a store with the help of his phone. The open sign was hung at the door. Surprisingly, there was quite a few people here.

Kai took a cart and started to look for items and food on the shop.

The shop was fairly large and was full of stock inside. After a few turns, Kai saw the shelves where the food section was.

He took a bag of chips, soda and went on his way to get frozen foods.

....

After shopping for almost an hour, he looked at the packed cart.

"Is this enough?" Kai thought as he had great difficulty pushing it.

He went to the counter and paid for it.

Carrying all the bags at once, Kai felt like he was going to faint. He went inside his apartment and put everything in the right place. He bought chicken, fish and other vegetables.

After putting everything in place, he lied on the sofa and waited for his ramen to cook. He opened the tv and looked at the news with great curiousity.

As he was watching, he suddenly got jolted awake when his phone started to vibrate. He opened it and saw his dad calling him.

"Dad?" Kai asked in a low voice.

"Hey, Kai! I finally contacted you, It's hard when you're in a different place", Kai's dad said while laughing. "By the way, how are you?" he asked Kai.

"I'm fine, the scenery here is beautiful and the people here are really warm and welcoming." Kai answered with his spirits soaring highly.

His dad was the only one he had. After his mom leave him and his dad when he was in second year high school, his dad was always there for him. They would usually spend hours together talking and playing games.

"That's good Kai! I'm really happy that you've adjusted in there already"

"Yeah."

"Class are starting soon, right?" His dad asked him.

"Yes, and don't worry, I won't let you down like I did before." Kai said with absolute firmness in his voice.

Sigh, "Kai, you didn't let me down. How many times do I have to tell you that? I've seen your efforts and contributions, not just in the game but in your team. You almost didn't sleep for a week straight when you're creating the team. I know your efforts more than anyone, so cheer up, I will always be here. Just focus on your studies first." His dad said as he felt a bit melancholic.

"Thanks, dad, I will study hard, I promise", Kai said to his dad feeling emotional.

"That's good. I might just visit you there someday."

"That's great news!"

"Well yeah, but I need to go. I'm gonna attend a meeting. Take care of yourself kid, don't let anyone bully or take advantage of you again, bye."

"Bye dad".

After his dad hunged up the phone, he looked at the ceiling and felt lost. He was in an unfamiliar city all by himself. He was abandoned by his team, the media and his mom. But, luckily his dad was always there for him.

While staring at the ceiling in a daze, he suddenly remembered his ramen.

"Ah sh*t, my ramen!" Kai shouted as he ran towards the kitchen.
