Chapter 1 - The Start Of Everything

I looked out the cafe window. Little dew droplets were scattered across the tinted glass, some of them trickling down and falling, others stayed in one place. Jack had brought me here. He said we were meeting the gang here. After last nights argument, I didn't think any of them would show up. But there sat Kara and Poet, my two best friends right across from me. Nathan was ordering food and Jack was making our coffee.

"Hey star..." poet spoke up.

I snapped out of my inner dialogue and faced towards him. He looked tired, sad and most importantly...Sorry.

"I really didn't mean to say that last night. I know it's already been said and I can't take it back but just know I really didn't mean it."

My mind flashed back to last night. How angry he was that I had been with jack, however, He sounded very genuine. I think we were all a little out of our minds last night.

"It's totally fine. I get it. I really do."

I replied.

A cup of coffee was placed infront of me. I looked up to see Jack pulling out his chair and sitting back down, putting his own cup beside him on the table. The steam rose high in the air, telling me the coffee was far to hot to drink right now. Finally, Nathan sat down too. I felt like a stranger in this group. I felt like I didn't belong here. These kids, they had all known each other for so long.

"Okay. I know we're all still tired but obviously we need to talk." Said JJ.

The whole group still was silent. Kara kept shifting her weight back in fourth while Nathan bit his sandwich every few seconds.

"Let's start with one thing. No one should for any reason single out y/n. We're together. Deal with it"

Somehow it was like a weight being lifted off my chest. Finally hearing confirmation that I wasn't just some hookup to him.

"Listen, I already apologized to her. We're all good" poet added.

"Okay...good. Next, I'm not mad anymore. I get why you guys left me I'm kinda a wreck right now. But please never take off without telling me."The whole table nodded in agreement."Now lastly, tell me everything about the gold."

Everything came back to me. Last night and been a blur. They had left Jack alone in search of some gold Nathan's dad had been searching for. They must've found a clue or something.
