Nikami POV
"What?! Why didn't you tell us, commoner?! So that was what was bothering you…" Shukona huffed, folding her hands.
"Shu, please just sit down… And ah! You're a commoner as well? Can you tell me your name? I wanna know you." Emica asked Yasachu, holding out a seat for Shukona.
"A-ah… I'm… Uhm, Yasachu Kowamekuna…" She answered Emica's question, nervously fidgeting with her fingers.
Shukona sat down, Emica poured the tea on her cup and smiled at me.
"By the way, The right door is Nikami-sama's room." Emica informed us.
"Ah! Tha-thank you for telling me…" Yasachu nodded.
"..." Meanwhile I was standing there, with my usual emotionless and monotone face. However, I started to sweat. In my head, I was starting to panic.
[Why? This wasn't in the game? Those two new capture targets were already a hassle, now I have to share a dorm with this filthy commoner? I hate this. This wasn't in my plan at all, this wasn't in my plan. Now I have to change up everything, the two were already enough. I hate this. I hate this. IhatethisIhatethisIhatethis-] I started breaking down silently, keeping my blank face… Or at least I think so.
Everything started to go blurry, foggy… I don't know anymore.
"I'm going to my room," I said, starting to walk towards the right door.
"####? #### ### ### #####?!" I saw Shukona talk, but I couldn't understand her.
I muted everything in my head, all I want right now is to plan and write everything down.
I put my hand in the knob, twisting to open it.
I can hear muffled voices behind me, I think it was Yasachu? I don't care anymore.
I entered the room, shutting the door behind me and locking it so no one could get in.
In a daze, I walked over to the desk and saw my notebook there. Who put it there? Probably Emica. I don't care though.
I took my quill and dipped it in ink, opening the notebook and putting the quill over the blank page, and started to write in a haze.
I felt a series of strong vibrations towards the door, maybe someone was banging on it. I didn't mind it and continued to write things down.
I opened my eyes.
Huh?
The first thing I saw was paper, my left arm felt numb.
My head hurt and I quickly turned my head up, and I saw that my hand was still on my notebook and that someone lit a candle near me. I was Holding the quill and ending at the word «Lov-»
"Ugh…" I groaned, feeling something warm on my back… It was a blanket.
"What…?" I was confused, what happened again…? I was just writing things down… And after that I don't know what happened.
After for a while when my eyes were still adjusting in the dark and I was moving my left arm around. I finally made sense of my surroundings, standing up and I unexpectedly fumbled forward.
"..." My legs didn't work properly as well, was it… That long? I looked around, seeing a window. I silently wobbled towards it and opened the blinds.
It was dark.
"Nighttime… Already?" I asked myself, looking at my shoulder and saw that the blanket was still there.
"Mornin sleepy head!" I heard a voice in front of me, it was incredibly high pitched, but at the same time had a rough tone to it.
I immediately turned towards the window and was greeted to the face with a familiar mask…
Startled, I stumbled back and quickly casted ice spikes beside me.
"...." I stayed silent, observing the person in front of me, it was that masked girl in the tree.
[What does she want? Why did she go to me specifically? Did she mistake my room for the protagonist?] I guessed in my head, staring at her intensely.
"Weeeeeeeeeell, I probably wouldn't have said good morning since it's practically midnight…" The female was sitting on the window frame, even though I just looked away for a moment she already got there without me noticing.
"Hey hey! Serioooooooously what is with the aggressiveness? Well, I should have known from the Silent Reading Ice Queen." She let out a small giggle as she snapped her fingers and all the ice spikes got enveloped in darkness and disappeared.
"...?!" I glanced over at where my ice spikes were supposed to be, then back at the masked woman.
What?
"What?" She imitated me along with the voice, and the tone, it was almost perfect.
"Iiiiiiiiss what you think correct? Yup yup! I know, I'm soooooo good at my job, mhm mhm!" She nodded to herself, jumping off the window frame and quickly walking towards me.
"Job…? What are you saying?" I asked, putting my right hand on my left glove, ready to take it off anytime. This person is dangerous, I don't get it though, how did she just make my ice spikes dissolve? Like it had just disappeared?
"I'M THE VILLAIN!!" She yelled out, a crazed grin from under her mask.
"Excuse me?" I was expecting a strange response, but not something this strange.
"I wanna kill the world! It's textbook villainy! Har har! I'm evil as fuck!" She let out another chuckle, folding her hands as she spread out her legs putting her chin up.
I continued to stare at her, completely awestruck at her stupidness.
[She may be childish… But I don't think she is someone easy to deal with…] I thought as I continued staring at her.
"No words??? Come onnnnnnnnn! I know I like... Am supposed to monologue a lot but at least contribute to the conversation!" She grumbled.
"What are you doing here, to begin with?" I asked that question, still keeping calm even if this person in front of me was just spouting nonsense.
"Ah! Well! It's simple! Because you my friend…" She started to walk towards me, her height just similar to mine. However, I did not move an inch, I wasn't afraid of this girl. Besides, what can she do? She's a capture target. She's weird, edgy, and probably a chunnibyou but people are into that.
"Is going to kill the world with me." She spoke, her deep black abyss eye and crimson dark red eye stared at both of my green orbs.
"... What?" I blinked, folding my hands as I continued to stare at her. Her mask was inches away from my face and I could feel my breath bouncing back to me.
She giggled, then quickly frowned as she sighed and backed away.
"God you are so fucking boring. Is… What? All you say?!" She grumbled, pouting.
"Well well! You actually already laid out the pieces for me! Reaaally! I'm so thankful for you! So my dearest Silent Reading Ice Queen is going to kill the world with me!"
"I don't want to kill the world, I don't have the reason to. Besides, I'm going to be a ruler. And I don't get why you even said I laid out the pieces for you, I don't remember doing any of that." I spoke to the masked girl in front of me, narrowing my eyes at her as I folded my hands.
"Oh trust me, you will." She chuckled as she looked over my bed and sat down.
"Stop sitting on my bed, and get out of my room." I glared at her.
[And I will? I won't destroy the world, that would be just… Dumb. I am already so high, so perfect, and why would I destroy a place where I would rule?] I thought, still staring at the masked woman.
"Ughhh, Finnnnnneeeeeeeeee… I'll get out of your room!" She groans, hopping out of the bed.
"But I'll come here every now and then! Because, I kinda like checking in on you." She giggled.
"You literally just called me boring two minutes ago, just go to my roommate… Or something." I paused for a bit, glancing over at my desk. Right… The protagonist is my roommate now. Tch.
"Pftt! She's sooooooooooo boring! But well, you are more boring because you rarely talk." She rolled her eyes, then froze.
"You know, you just think of me as a child don't you?" Her voice started to become cold as she glanced back at me.
"I just came inside your room without you even noticing, said some dangerous things, and here we are, talking like normal buddies." Her personality did a total twist, rather than a cheerful and slightly eerie masked girl now she is filled with… Hatred?
"Well you are a Child, you act like a child, I don't care if you came inside my room. You can't do anything to me anyway." I sighed.
"Hahahaha… HAHAHAHAHA!!" She laughed at me, running her hands through her hair.
"Oh wow, you really are such a prideful asshole aren't you? Thinking you are so perfect when in reality you only feel a void on the inside." She glared at me.
"Maaayyyybeeee if you would socialize more and communicate better rather than staying silent all the time and doing nothing… Maybe you would actually have a personality rather than this shitty prideful ice queen thingy you got going on!~" She giggled, turning back at her cheerful side.
"I got an idea, why not fix that?!" She exclaimed, running over towards me as she grabbed my head.
"...?!" I quickly got on guard and grabbed her hands, putting ice on her arms as I tried to push her away.
"Let. Go." I growled, continuing to freeze her arm.
"..." She stayed silent, the ice on her arms now going to her shoulders at a fast rate, however, she didn't even flinch. Her grip was tight, her eyes were shut. She was muttering something as well.
Despite being magically talented, physical strength was never my strong suit, I gritted my teeth as I knew this was the case.
"I said… Let go!!" I felt a sudden pain in my head, my right hand felt a rush of mana and her entire arm was coated in frost. My left arm being in gloves so it couldn't have gone through.
She quickly backed away with her eyes wide open, looking over at her now frosted arm as she chuckled nervously.
"Hahahaha! Wow! That's amazing! You coated my arm with ice in a matter of seconds! Seriously? How did you get that much mana!" She continued laughing, looking out the window as the sun started to rise.
"And oh yea, It will only last like, a day, so yea! Don't worry much about it!" She chuckled even more, staring at the sun rising.
"That's my cue, see you!" She backed away in a dark corner of my room, disappearing as ice spikes fell down, and ice that had a mold of an arm.
I fell down, clutching my head as I groaned.
"Ugh… It… hurts…" I mumbled, closing my eyes.
Right after as I said that, the pain subdued.
"Haah… Haah... What… Did she… Do…?" I mumbled to myself, huffing as I wobbly stood up.
"Damn it… She's already breaking my plan apart… Tch… I didn't even get to ask who she was…" I gritted my teeth, glancing at my notebook.
"This is… This is fine, I can do this…" I did a deep inhale and tried to relax from what just happened.
"And… What does she mean by… It will only last a day…" I mumbled, sitting down on my bed as I stared at the sun rising.
"Wait a moment…" She blinked, suddenly realizing something.
"Why am I talking?! I'm supposed to be thinking this? Why… is… my mouth… moving…?" My eyes shot wide open as I looked down at myself, quickly running to my desk where there was a mirror.
"Is this what she was talking about? Can I not think anymore? No, rather, I cannot think because I will speak it out loud…" I bit my lip, pacing around my room as the sunlight hit the inside.
I glanced over at the ice that fell, wait, why did it fall off from her?
"No, stop it, no need about that now… I need to take care of this before class…" I continued to pace around the room, folding my hands as I did so. I stopped and tapped my foot.
"How though? Everything I think just slips out, I can't go to school like this… What are other means of communication? Maybe hand signs would work? Ah, maybe writing things down." I continued to mutter to myself, guessing things as much as I could.
"She did say «If you would socialize more and communicate better rather than staying silent all the time and doing nothing.» So, communicate better, It can still be taken like… Communications via writing…" I talked to myself even more.
I looked around the cabinet on my desk, trying to find a small notebook.
"I'm sure I made Emica pack more notebooks for me," I mumbled, knowing that I would write a lot during studying so I told her to bring a lot of notebooks.
I finally found one, taking it out and shutting the cabinet as I started to open it. Then I took a quill and dipped it in ink.
"Please work, please work." I begged, writing my words down as I thought of it.
Please, please, please. Is what I wrote, I nodded to myself as I inhaled.
"Alright, good, I can think with this." I let out a sigh of relief, finally having a good way to not talk all the time.
"Now… If I abuse this my hand would get hurt writing all the time, perhaps I'll do this only in classes. I'll be taking notes anyway." I nodded once again, hugging the notebook close to my chest. And looked outside the window once more.
"Damn it, it's only the first day, and I already got cursed… Who is that girl? She's a dark magic user… Tch. Damn it. She may be a Chunni but she actually has the power to go with it." I clicked my tongue, seeing the sun fully out of the horizon.
I heard a knock on the door, and heard a voice from the outside.
"Nikami-sama! It's time for school! I already have made breakfast outside, please wake up." She slowly opened the door and was startled when I was already awake
"Oh, up early huh. Should have expected that from Nikami-sama, excited for her school year!" Emica cheered a bit, smiling.
"Shall you eat now? Or would you like to rest for a while?" Emica tilted her head.
"I'll eat now." I bluntly said, going out the door as I still kept the notebook in my hand.
Then I wrote…
This is going to be hard.
