"You made a big mistake, little Dove."
His voice had a coldness to it that left chills running up my spine, yet, the feel of his warm breath near my ear set fire to my skin. The woman in me screamed out, I had no clue whether it was because I was surprisingly horny at the moment, or because I was tied to his bed and blindfolded.
My body went rigid again as I felt his fingertips glide up my ankle and rested on my thigh. I gulp from the sudden intimate gesture.
I could practically see him smirk in satisfaction, due to my nervous reaction. Just like he had done earlier in the ballroom. I hadn't been touched by a man this way before, so I guessed he just figured that out and was amused by it.
Much to my embarrassment, I squeezed my legs shut as warmth began to spread into my cheeks and flooded into a place that was unfamiliar with the rippling sensations.
"Are you going to obey me? Or must I..." He paused, his fingertips trailing further up my thigh in a slow and tantalizing way. "Make you..." His voice responded once more after gaining a gasp from me. Somehow the feel of his fingers on my skin made my body go crazy, it was most likely because I was blindfolded, making my senses slightly heightened. Or maybe I was thrilled by him overall. No, no. That couldn't be it, I hated his guts. Right?
"R-River... I'm sorry. I really am." I lied through my teeth, not wanting to debate against my own consciousness anymore, as well as, just wanted to be let out of the ropes that blinded my wrist to the headboard of his bed.
I only got a dark chuckle in return, followed by a reply that made me tremble. I could feel the bed dip as he leaned closer to me, his fingers moving off my thigh, much to my relief, to lift up my chin. He slowly dipped down, whispering against my skin as his lips smoothed over the length of my exposed neck.
"You're a terrible liar."
My cheeks were probably as red as a tomato by now, but I still had anger brewing in me, just waiting to bubble up and scorch him. I scramble back, tearing my chin out of his grasp, though I was secretly horny, I remembered why I was here in the first place. I was taken. I was trapped. My family was dead.
Disgust replaced arousal.
"So, what if I am? Tell me why I should obey someone like you?"
The words spilled out of my mouth like lava, dying to engulf and burn him entirely 'till he was nothing but soot and ash. A bitterness was clear in my tone as my back hit the beds head board and the sound of an inhuman growl deafened my ears.
"You dare to question and defy me still? Little Dove, you should watch your tongue." His remark was quick and deadly, lashing back at my words, causing me to want to gobble them back up and swallow them whole. I sink back, not realizing I was shaking, I could feel his intense gaze and his powerful aura. This man wasn't a fool, he was clever and dangerous. He could kill me in a split second if he wanted to.
I wince seconds later, picturing what he'd do if I talked back. Though I couldn't refrain myself in the seconds before that picture and shouted. The anger in me roaring out. It was near impossible to stop.
"Why?! You are a monster! Thanks to you, I have no home to return to! If you want to kill me, do it already!" My throat began to burn as soon as I screamed the words out.
Oh god, I'm an idiot.
I was going to die.
I flinch when I feel his fingers harshly move out from under my chin and he moved off the bed.
The mattress beneath me lifted again, relieved to have the heavy figure off of it. The man was large, with not an inch of fat on him, he was all muscle. Which was even more irritating. He was much stronger than me, much much stronger.
"I'm a monster huh?" River spoke, this time quiet as he suddenly undid the rope, forced me up and into a sitting position. The room grew silent and the air was heavy with the smell of my fear. My body shaking even more now as I sat there, awaiting death to take me or a fatal blow. But nothing came. Nothing at all, except for a light touch.
He brought a hand up and I flinch slightly until his finger caressed one side of my face. The man stayed silent, his touch gentler this time. Almost too gentle.
I breathe in and out quickly, afraid.
I felt like I was going to piss my pants in that moment but stayed completely still. Scared that if I moved, he would use my words against me and kill me without any hesitation.
A small growl finally broke the silence when his fingertips traced my jaw, my nose, and brushed against my lips. "I've been called that a lot." He murmured, leaning in so close, that my breathing hitched in my throat. My eyes wide behind the blindfold.
"So, if that's the best retort you've got. You might as well give up." River continued, his fingertips tracing the outline of the blindfold, before he tucked strands of my hair behind my ear, causing me to shudder again. Not in fear, but because of something else. It was a feeling I was almost entirely unfamiliar with.
He pulled his fingers away suddenly, as if realizing again that I was a flame that would get him badly burned. I expected his touch again, but surprisingly grew disappointed when his fingers failed to trail against my skin again.
He moved away, his presence leaving me, along with his warmth. I shivered and sat there in shock, only to fall back against the bed, sighing in relief.
I was alive.
My hands hesitantly reached up and took off the blindfold, and finally I could see again. I glanced wildly around, aware that he hadn't left the room. His powerful presence still felt, along with the tension that often clung thick in the air between us. I caught sight of him as he stayed far from me, sitting on a leather couch in the corner of the spacious bedroom, though his blue gaze still bore into me, mixed emotions hiding deep within their depths.
I steady my breaths and pull the covers over myself, seeking shelter from the blankets and to hide from his piercing gaze.
Turning onto my side, I keep my back to him and rest my head on one of the comfy pillows.
I could hear his growl, but ignored it and closed my eyes, wishing he would leave. But to my displeasure, he stayed there, in that very spot, making sure I wouldn't go anywhere. Yet, he didn't dare to come near me again that night. It was as if he was holding himself back.
It never ceased to make me feel like I was being watched by a predator, and I knew I was his prey.
But for some strange reason, he didn't pounce. Not yet, anyways. Which was fine by me.
Soon I was taken by the darkness that came with sleep, and drifted off into a deep slumber, almost forgetting the wolf that was waiting to snatch me up and make me pay for what I've done and said to him.
-Dream time-
Blue eyes glowed in the darkness, haunting me. I looked around and realized I was safely at home again, my mother asleep in her rocking chair, while my brother was out working another late shift.
I stayed glued in front of the kitchen window that overlooked our small garden and the woods nearby. Our home was the nearest to those dark, dark woods. This frightened and intrigued me all at the same time.
My eyes drifted back over to the blue orbs that seemed fascinated by me, and I felt the twinge of making me wonder why they were so familiar. I stared back at those eyes, bluer than the ocean itself. An ocean that was threatening to sweep me up and take me down into an unexplored abyss. One so beautiful, yet dark.
The eyes came closer and closer, never leaving mine as I stayed fixated on them. As if in a trance I reached out my hand, wanting to touch the dark shadow that crept close to the window, its huge paws trampling the flower beds that lay beneath it. I realized it was a wolf as its dark features came into view and within a blink of an eye its jaws were wide open, threatening to eat me, like the monster it was.
I screamed in surprise and shrunk back in fear, eyes wide as my chest heaved up and down.
And when I looked up at the window again, the creature of the night was gone. So, were its blue eyes.
