It wasn't like she was particularly close to Dr. Jones or that they had a special relationship of some sort but he had been present at her initiation party and he had seemed to her, like the only genuine person in the room with his warm smile and how he shook her hand while offering words of encouragement. But that asides, she knew what it felt like to lose a Father. And although she didn't know what exactly the relationship between Scarlett and Dr. Jones was like, she knew Scarlett would be devastated regardless because it didn't matter whether or not they were on good terms, as long as he was alive, the possibility of fixing whatever it was that was damaged between them still remained. But now that he was gone, that possibility was gone too. And it truly was gone forever.
