The line was silent for a long while after Scarlett's sudden announcement and the only thing she could hear was the sound Jean's soft breaths as he digested what he just heard.
He had no idea what do say. Not that he had expected this, whatever this was between them, to go on forever. She had a completely different life that had nothing to do with him and he also had to head back to Barcelona anyways.
Jean sighed. "I was not expecting you to drop that on me so soon, but okay." The defeat in his voice made Scarlett's heart ache but there was nothing she could do. There was nothing either of them could do.
They spoke for a few minutes after that and then eventually said their goodbyes and Scarlett rejoined Kelly on the metal chairs.
"You should go back to him." Kelly said as Scarlett took her seat.
"What?" She frowned in response, wondering what Kelly was talking about.
