Chapter 1 - Vision

It all started on that day when the sky burned red, light distortions caused the clouds to appear torn and strewn about. No one knew the cause but it was apparent what was to happen next.

The world's end.

As the red clouds parted slowly and edge of something slowly became visible. Something which honestly shouldn't be there and scared me. The sheer possibility of what it appeared to be caused everyone looking at it to stop.

Despair, grew over us like heavy vines, all were paralyzed. None moved and none could. The sight was to behold, was it the end? Soon the object fully cleared the clouds.

It was beautiful and majestic. It's large jagged oblong appearance visibly breaking the sound barrier, it's tail, plumes of dark smoke which in relation to everything else seemed like a still picture. A tear rolled from my eyes. And dripped silently from my chin.

The city was silent now, bathed in an intense orange and everyone looked.

Stared, anticipated the end dreading the moment the asteroid would plunge into the far eastern part of the island and wipe everything away.

Low rumbling.

The air stirred. Dry and as I swallowed I braced myself for the incinerating wave that soon undoubtably pass over us.

No-one spoke or yelled. No-one ran or screamed. Just stood.

Louder now.

The sound or tearing earth and crashing rocks greeted us in unison, the end no doubt. My eyes now glued on the fast approaching wave and moved by the sudden force, The glass doors and windows of the stores around us imploded the cars, trees, motorcycles, rocks, torn columns debris and people.

Oh God, the people.

Darkness.

There's nothing now only a faint ringing.
