Chapter 2 - Novice Mythical Forger

[Common Iron Sword]

[Grade: Common]

[ATK: 5][DUR: 0/5]

[Special Attribute: None]

What?

Su Ling stumped for a while when he heard a melodious chime inside his head. Then, when he closed his eyes, he saw a very familiar floating window.

Isn't it the UI of the game he was playing before electrocuted to death?

'What's happening?' Su Ling couldn't make heads or tails of this. 'Is this the so-called transmigration bonus written in novels?' He wondered. While thinking about the system more, suddenly, he heard another chiming sound. He closed his left eye, and as expected, he saw a floating bubble. It was the UI of the game he was playing before his death.

"No, that's not it!" Su Ling felt something was wrong with the UI. It was definitely the game screen, but instead of showing his character details, it was showing his subclass details.

[Grant/Extract Lv 1]

At the cost of 20 points of durability, the user can extract or grant an attribute to an item of choice.

Lv 1: Only 1 attribute can be granted or extracted.

"What the fuck!?" Su Ling couldn't stop himself from cursing again. It was too mindboggling. He had not expected to find something like this. Although he was surprised, he was also disappointed at the same time. The UI belonged to his smithing subclass, which just got evolved before his death. If it was his character UI instead, it could have been better. At the very least, he could have continuously level-upped and become stronger than his enemies.

The disappointment only lasted for a few seconds, though. It was still better than not getting anything at all.

Looking at the broken sword and its non-existent attributes, Su Ling fell into contemplation. His situation was precarious, and his life was in danger from the enemies beyond his capabilities. A sudden urge to try out his abilities born in his heart.

"Let's try it." Grabbing the broken sword, he started using [Body of Forge]. The way to use his abilities was already there in his head. All he had to do was to follow the method step by step.

Holding the sword, he opened his mouth and blew out a gust of hot air. The broken sword heated up as it turned red and gradually lost its rigid state. Miraculously, it didn't turn liquid as it should. It became as soft as mud dough. Su Ling excitedly kneaded the glowing and smoking red 'dough' with his bare hands. Suddenly his palms signed a brilliant golden light, as the dough started to take shape.

[Yellow Rare Grade Dagger completed]

[+10 EXP]

[Iron Dagger][Grade: Yellow Rare]

[ATK +10][Durability: 10/10]

[Special Attribute: Attack speed +5%]

[Note: A slightly good dagger made from shoddy material.]

"Cool!" Indeed it was cool. The process itself was magical, and the product was nothing short from a miracle. The broken remnant of the sword was as bad as it could get, even its durability was at zero. However, with the use of his ability, he turned that useless sword into this Rare grade dagger.

The dagger was half the size of the sword remain it made from and shaped like a fruit knife. But, there were some differences which set it apart from a fruit knife.

"Hmm, I will call you Fruit Knife." Su Ling muttered while marveling at his creation. While holding the dagger, he could feel a strange warmth emanating from its handle. And when he tried to perform an air stab, he saw after-images of his hand. The marvelousness didn't end there. When he slashed at a nearby tree, the dagger went through its thick trunk like a hot knife through butter.

It was so surreal that Su Ling didn't dare to believe it.

However, the truth was before his eyes. Even if he didn't want to, he had to believe it.

"With this, I can at least guarantee my safety, for the time being, right?" Su Ling really lacked confidence. It was only due to the memories of Aron and his own headstrongness that he hadn't broken down yet. As for how long can he can persist, only time would tell.

Sha! Sha!

The same bush rustled once again, dragging Su Ling's attention back to the matter.

Gripping Fruit Knife tighter, he narrowed his eyes and carefully sat on the one knee.

While waiting, he circulated the Qi in his body to its limit, feeling a strange coolness all over his body. In the hot weather, it was very comfortable. At the same time, it also increased his five senses to its limit.

Shua!

A white something jumped out of the bush, heading towards his face. On instinct, he swiped his right hand, which held the dagger. Su Ling briefly felt a little resistance, but it soon vanished.

Kii!

Giving out a miserable shriek, his assailant died from bodily bisection.

After calming down, Su Ling looked at the thing and found it to be some kind of furry critter that vaguely resembled a rabbit. From Aron's memories, the forest close to the border didn't have this kind of critter.

The fur on its body was an indication of its natural habitat. This thing should live in a cold place, not this hot and humid forest.

Which means this critter belongs to his enemy.

"Fuck me!!"

From Aron's memories, he knew that there exist many magical skills and techniques in this world. Using animals to reconnaissance wasn't that rare of a skill either. It's just that he hadn't expected to get caught so soon.

Jumping to his feet, Su Ling made haste towards where he knew the nearest outpost was supposed to be.

Perhaps it was due to transmigration, or something else, all the previous wounds Aron sustained had already healed. His body was now in an optimum condition. Aside from a slight Qi depletion, he didn't feel any ailments.

As for the Qi depletion, it was only due to him using the [Body as Forge], though it wasn't mentioned on the skill description.

'''

Several minutes after Su Ling ran away, seven shadowy figures landed near the puddle where he regained consciousness. One of the shadowy figures kneeled down, and inspected the remains of the furry critter.

"He was here not long ago." The voice belonged to a woman. They all wore hooded robes that covered every part of their bodies, leaving not a single part exposed.

"Find out which direction he ran to." The one who asked was a stocky figure with a broadsword on his back. If Aron/Su Ling was to be here, then he would have instantly recognized it. It was the same broadsword their deputy platoon leader liked to use.

"Ormarr, if we couldn't find him before tonight, you can forget about joining our Holy Crusade Empire." The woman who was still crouching beside the corpse of the critter muttered under her breath.

"What?" Ormarr, the former deputy platoon leader, shouted in worry. His voice carried a trace of fear and indignation. "You can't be like this! I have done so much for you. You can't discacrd at this critical juncture!" Though he complained, Ormarr lacked the fierceness he usually displayed to his subordinates.

"I can, and I will." The woman stood up to her full height and said coldly. "If you have forgotten about it, let me remind you again. It was a transaction." She added in a voice devoid of all emotions. "I have already paid you in full for your service. As for you joining our empire, that's a different matter." She continued then raised her index finger towards eastwards.

"That boy ran in that direction." She said. "You have until daybreak to kill him. If you cant complete it by then, there is no need to find me anymore." She added.

Ormarr clenched his fist harder and gritted his teeth angrily. Though he didn't allow it to show it on his face. Stamping his foot down on the ground hard enough to split it open, he dashed towards the pointed direction.

'Fucking Bitch!!'
