A stunned silence settled over the room as Chancellor Pyun read the memorandum the Emperor had written and placed in his sister's hands.

"He has evidence and witnesses..." He walked about the room, pulling at his black spear-shaped beard, "...Indeed," and grasping anything on which he laid his hands as though he would crush it and flung it across the floor, "according to the detailed description of your crime... you have no choice but to acknowledge that you have committed the murder... I  thought we destroyed all the evidence and the witnesses, how could it be?"

His eyebrows raised in bewilderment at her reaction: nothing, not a flinch, not a single damn thing, when he had suggested a solution, "Could you go as far as killing the Emperor?"

He had spoken such madness so composedly that she could not very well brush aside the notion, and she made no answer.
