"You look different this morning. Is this careworn that I'm sensing?" Yuna asked me suddenly. "Yeah, what's up with you? Did something happen since the last time we've spoken?" Ness asked twin questions. I knew that I had to say something, but what? She didn't reply, maybe she hated it. Who can blame her, she already painted a picture of me. "He just had a late night, solving an impossibly gruesome case. He got rather irritated and started second guessing himself, so I offered him a little help," Vash lied through his teeth, covering my ash. "No offence dude, but you do intent to get irritated when you can't solve something," Paul said. For a second I thought that his lie wouldn't cut it, but they bought it. What a relieve? I played with the food on my plate, stealing a peek at her every now and then. She seems so happy today. "Excuse me, but I'm not really hungry," I told my friends as I stood up and left the dining room. Vash followed me. "I'm sure she'll reply," Vash said when we were out of hearing distance. After we walked a few times around the building;
we went indoors again. "Yoh. This is for you," Mello said as he handed me a note. "Hey yourself. What's the matter with you? You look even worse then me!" I stated as I took the note from him. "It's none of your business, so back off!" He exclaimed bitterly, and then we watched as he walked away. I unfolded the piece of paper and read:
'That was generously kindhearted and delightful. You sure do know how to put on your charm, Thank you. A.
I gave my friend a little smile as I refold the note. "See. What did I tell you?" Vash asked as he gave me a punch on the shoulder. She thinks that I'm charming, kindhearted and delightful. I've never been referred to any of those before. "What are you going to do next?" Vash asked me. His words overflow by curiosity mixed with the spicy flavors of sarcasm. "Honestly? I have no clue, whatsoever. Any ideas?" Whenever I think about what my next move should be, I can only think about asking her out on a date. But surely, a date, seems to fast. Perhaps I should give it some time. Then again, I want to be with her. I don't want to wait. "She replied and that's fantastic news, but I think that you should wait- at least until she made the next move." Vash answered bursting my happy bubble. Damn! I don't want to wait, what if she never makes a move? How long will I have to wait for...? Rikku would have never kept me waiting. What am I thinking? She's not Rikku, Angel's at an entirely different level. She's brilliant, well-groomed and absolutely breathtaking. I just have to face it, that waiting might be for the best.
After ten I returned to my room, another few cases solved and a quick shower behind me. I lay down on my bed, arms behind my head. replaying her note, word for word, in my mind. Over and over again. Did she really write me that note? Well, now isn't the time to be second-guessing her written word. I'm burning with the desire to see her again. Thoughts of her pesters through my memory. Hugging her. Kissing her. Would she be able to calm my unsteady heart. A sudden knock at my bedroom door pulled me back to reality. I stood up lazily, dragging my feet behind me. On my way towards the door another knock echoed throughout the room. Please don't let it be Rikku, I don't have time for her sentimentality. Neither Watari with a new case file, I begged silently. This isn't good, Angel's always on my mind- she's a distraction. My heart gave an uncomfortable thump as I opened the door. "Hey there, may I come in?" She asked me. Am I dreaming? Is this really happening? Seconds after I thought about her she appears in front of me, what's the odds. I swallowed down a lump in my throat. "Am I bothering you?" Struggling miserably with the lump I stood there speechless. "Silent treatment? Oh, I see that I shouldn't have come," she stated to my shock, turned around and started to walk away. Quickly I grabbed her by the wrist. "I'm sorry, it was- I mean, I wasn't expecting this... seeing you, I mean. I were just thinking about you, and then you came a-knocking on my door," I finally spoke. "How peculiar?" She said in a question manner, though it was most likely meant rhetorical. "Would you like to come in?" I offered and to my surprise she excepted. Gracefully she passed me by. I closed the door behind her. "What gives me the honor, to be in the presence of a gorgeous creature such as yourself, my fair lady?" She gave me a flash of her million dolor smile. The same one that's lately been driving me crazy. "I wanted to personally thank you for the recording. It made my day. Can we make use of this time by getting to know each other a little better?" She asked as she sat down at the foot of my bed. Imprinting her perfumed body on my blanket. "Sure, no problem. When's your birthday?" I answered and ended by asking her the first question. I can't believe that she's actually here in my room, alone, playing 20-questions. "I already had my birthday on the 25th of June. What about you, when's yours?" I sat down on the carpet as I answered, "31st of October. Share a secret about yourself?" She flashed me an adorable smile as she looked down at her feet. "I always wanted a kitten, does that count?" I shook my head. "Nope! That's more of a wish or a desire." She shrugged her shoulders and said, "Tell me yours and I'll tell you mine." She's being playful in a shy-schoolgirl-kinda-way, which made me see her in a different light. "I've once made-out with a girl when Watari entered the room. It was all PG13, but the embarrassment of my life," I confessed. She has a ladida tone to her laughter. "Oh, that's bad. Unfortunately I don't have any secrets. My father would have punished me if a secret were ever to surface. Never dated anybody. Never kissed a boy (or girl) for that matter. Never went out with friends, didn't had any of those. I'm innocent!" She paused for a few seconds before she continued: "Life is so much brighter here at the orphanage. I have a bunch of friends and-" Again she stopped in mid-sentence. She really is an Angel sent from afar. Free from sin. "Well, my lady- Perhaps it's time for us to depart. Your room is waiting," I told her as I stood up in one swift movement. "I would really like to say a little longer. Or is this your polite way to say 'be gone'?" I shook my head as I came to an halt in front of her. "No, don't get me wrong. I'll much rather have you stay, but I fear if I do that I might become the villain who robbed you from your innocence," I explained myself to her. Her face instantly lit up with realization. She stood up much to suddenly, which left us standing abreast. A lost stray of hair fell like a curtain before her pretty face. Gently I tugged it behind her ear. Our eyes locked for a brief moment. I gasped for a breath as my fingertips slightly braced against her soft skin. "This is your queue. I think it's best if you go," I said as I swallowed loudly. I gave a step backwards to allow her to pass. She gave me a endearing smile. "Well, okay then! I won't hold you up any longer. Thanks again for the recording, I loved it. Have a good night my kind sir and I'll see you tomorrow." With that she left. Now I'm even more sure of my feelings for her. I like her a lot. Vash was indeed correct, Cupid's arrow stroked the core of my being. I'm falling for her- Hard!
