CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE
Leto walked towards her lab in all of her anger. She was livid, more than she ever had been. Her subject had almost died! She had almost failed in her pursuit of knowledge. The worst thing was, she couldn't understand what went wrong.
She shook her head. Of course, she knew. There was no imagining the fear that gripped at her simply just because Alice Slade turned to look at her. And she wasn't even staring at Leto directly!
It was simply from a CCTV camera and yet—she was undeniably terrified. So much so that she had risked everything. All of her data, her subject, basically all of her hard work, just to put her to sleep as soon as possible.
She had no idea what to feel when she saw the young girl's heart line flattened. The first thing she felt when she heard the sound was relief. She was not going to be killed. She was safe.
