Marian viewed the remains of police chief Drew Mackondray and paid homage by taking the holy water and sprinkling some on the coffin. She prayed a moment alongside Pipa, who looked in the corner of her eye, checking for anyone that could have noticed her. Her knuckles were still painful, but she was good hiding her hands inside her pocket.
As Marian and Pipa went out along with the throngs of people, an ambulance was already outside, reviving the bodies on the alley beside the chapel.
"What is happening?" Marian asked one of the onlookers.
The old man replied, "two jail guards were killed."
"Oh my God!" Marian gushed as she looked at Pipa.
"Did you hear that, Pipa?"
"Yes, Ms. Marian."
"Who could have done such a thing?"
"People do crazy things," Pipa replied.
"Yes, but kill them? J_sus C_rist!"
"Maybe they did something wrong."
"Like what?"
"I don't know. Maybe bullied someone."
