The older man went back with plates on hand and carefully served the blueberry pie.
"Enjoy! Let me know if you two need anything."
"Thanks," Miles replied. The older man went back inside the kitchen.
From the smell of it, it was something Miles needed to recharge himself. He took a bite and, for a moment, closed his eyes to satiate his intense craving.
"How is it?" Lyca asked.
"Not bad. This is not good..."
"What do you mean?" Lyca was confused.
"Frankly, this is excellent!" Miles then munched on the rest of his pie.
Lyca gave it a go. It tasted really well, and the coffee gave it an oomph.
The diner's light began to flicker again.
Lyca and Miles looked at the light and again was disturbed by the irritatingly slow sound of music in the jukebox on the corner.
"Look at the man on the other end? Is he really listening to that darn music?" Lyca asked Miles.
Miles looked at the man. He had his mouth open.
