Miles opened the tape and inserted it inside the player. He pressed play, and a recording started to play.
"Miles, Lyca, welcome." The voice was calm and deep, and it immediately caught their attention.
Lyca pressed the pause button and let out a deep sigh. She couldn't believe what she heard. The voice had an instructional tone, and she was certain something was forthcoming, and they would be in for a big surprise.
"This is Jorge!" Miles buzzed.
Lyca again pressed the play button and listened. "First, the abduction. Thank you for making it all easy. I know you two well, and I hope you both are ready. I intentionally did not forewarn you because everything you would hear is part of the bigger plan. You might have guessed I am Jorge Velez. And I am not the singular proponent of this. There were others, and you would know them soon. Frankly, you might be in for a big surprise."
