This damned city doesn't have an end. Seriously!
It's late into the night, and maybe we'll be able to reach the other side at dawn. It's not like we're in a hurry, so it might be the case to stop and rest till tomorrow. Yet, we need to look like we barely survived the journey.
«We can rest for a couple of hours when we reach the outskirts,» I say, seeing how Julia continues to walk in silence.
She doesn't complain of the long walk, and her body seems pretty fine. She yawns from time to time; that's the only sign telling me she's not as tough as she pretends to be.
The area is silent; people have retreated for the night. I guess they have some safe places to sleep.
I don't let go of Julia's hand even for a moment, and I keep watching around. In case a shadow considers aiming at my girl. I don't think they can suck her energy out since there seems to be none, but her outer appearance is human. They might attack all the same and do some damage.
