We walk for the whole night and half of the day. Julia isn't tired, so we continue without breaks.
We just stop for the meals.
Her body seems to have adjusted to the pace. Her legs do hurt when she sits down, but she doesn't complain even once.
When we stop to rest for a bit longer, a couple of hours before sunset, she sits down and leans on the wall. We chose a dark room in an abandoned house for the night.
Her eyes close, and her breath stabilises.
Asleep in just a couple of seconds, she doesn't even have dinner.
We avoided inhabited cities till now, as shadows indeed reside there. There's nothing they can feed on with us either way, as we won't be afraid just because they appear. It's a whole another matter with the beasts, but I still hope we won't meet any.
I sit next to Julia and eat, offering her my shoulder to sleep more comfortably. When she slips down with her face turned to the ground, I catch her just in time.
