Recap: His hands felt cold and his chest felt tight he looked up at the bear growling at him. Right as the bear pounced, a few arrows flew off and hit the bear. Before Leon lost consciousness he remembers seeing a figure crouch next to him and look at him.
Leon felt cold and his head ached but he could tell he was alive, as he could feel his body resting on something comfortable. He opened his eyes slowly, he could see a wooden ceiling, he sat up and looked around. Leon grabbed his shirt and saw the rips in it, he searched the closet of the room he was in and found a black shirt and a thin coat with a long coattail. He looked outside the window and saw two interesting things, the first was the townscape he could see around him, it was beautiful but not where he wanted to be, and the second thing he could see was bright daylight outside, which worried him because he had no idea how many days had passed. He winced a little and lifted his shirt up looking at his two large scars from the bear, Leon clenched his fist and walked out of the room.
He hesitated outside the room where he found his throwing spears laying outside in the hallway. Leon had only one pouch on his belt, it was the pouch he had of the mushroom powder, the one that knocked someone out if they smelled it. Whenever he tested it on Violet she never recalled being hit with it either.
Leon looked around the hallway, at one end of the hall was the staircase down and the rest of the walls were littered with doors. Leon assumed he was taken to a town clinic, so he walked down the staircase and out into the lobby of the clinic "I see your awake mister caveman." An old man with a thin pair of glasses walked up to him and introduced himself "I'm the head doctor here, and the one who saved your life. You can call me Doctor Spanswick, or Doc if that's easier for you." Leon looked at the old man and asked a question "Doc, wheres the person who brought me here? I want to see them, they need to take me back to that part of the forest."
The doctor laughed and told him "So you can get killed by that bear again? I'm afraid I can't allow that." Leon frowned and asked again "At least tell me where I can find that person." The doctor thought for a moment then said cheerfully "She goes by the name, Naomi, and you can find her down by the adventurers guild if she hasn't left for another quest yet." Leon sighs and immediately gives up on the idea of going back, his reasoning being: if she's an adventurer, she most likely has a party and they wouldn't want to go back to someplace in the middle of the woods for an outsider, and if she is an adventurer she might be strong and that would mean Leon cant leverage her by force either.
Leon went up to the doctor with a new plan "Hey, do you have anything to knock out your patients when you need to operate on them?" The doctor looked at the boy and raised an eyebrow "Do you want some? Its a rare commodity and many doctors don't have any, it would be worth the high price of 3 gold pieces." Leon laughed and looked at the doctor "Doctor Spanswick right? What if I sold you some? Hows 3 gold pieces?" The doctor laughed too and some nurses nearby could feel the jarring aura of those two men fighting "Fine, I'll buy a pouch for 2 gold and 5 silver pieces, hows that boy?" Leon grinned and the old man grinned too "Ill take it, gramps, it'll help you afford a better clinic, this one's pretty shabby."
The old man laughed as a nurse brought out the money "This 'shabby' clinic is good enough to keep a caveman, like yourself healthy." Leon laughed and took the money from the nurse while dropping the bag in the doctor's hands "Nice doing business with you, gramps." The old man opened the pouch and felt the dust, he smiled and said: "Nice grounding kid, Ill buy your dust anytime you come to town, but you seemed to know your way around weapons so maybe try registering in the adventurer's guild."
Leon walked out of the clinic without his bow and his old shirt, he didn't need it with what he was going to do. When Leon reached a busy street he thought he would stand out as an outsider but it appeared there were lots of adventurers from different towns. Leon went to a local weaponsmith and got a wooden recurve bow, made out of a durable wood that he found plenty of in his part of the forest. The bow was worth at least 3 gold pieces but Leon got a bargain for 1 gold piece and 2 silver pieces, he took the rest of his money and bought an outfit in Violet's size and all of his gear in a modern age instead of prehistoric.
Leon emptied the biggest pouch he bought and put the wrapped up outfit in the pouch to keep it safe as he bought the outfit he was reminded of Violet being all alone and so far away. He started walking around town for the adventurers guild as his last location in this town and once he found it, he quickly registered. The lady at the desk explained the ranking system to Leon, the ranks had five classes starting at copper and going bronze, silver, gold, and diamond. On his way out, he saw a group of adventurers walk in and turn in a local quest, he ignored them and continued walking.
The man who looked like the leader caught a glimpse of Leon and walked up to him "I haven't seen your face around here, you must be new to town. Do you have any money to give me?" Leon completely ignored the guy and kept walking. The guy flinched then smiled crookedly "You should know I'm the highest adventurer in the copper class, you should be bowing down to me since your a newcomer." Leon opened the door and walked outside, not stopping until he reached the gate of the town.
The man just threw it off and told his companions "Don't worry, I'm sure we will see him again." A figure in the back of the group, who didn't look apart of their group watched Leon all the way until he left. Afterward, the figure backed off into the shadows and disappeared into the darkness. The group continued as if no one was even there.
Leon walked out into the main trail leading away from the town, he found a large hill close by and looked around for the mountain he lived in. He found a few mountains to the east and one group of mountains to the west, none he recognized. He kept looking around but found no more mountains so he just sat down and inspected his new bow until a voice came from the other side of the tree "If you are trying to get back to where you were before, maybe try that mountain over there, it's near where I found you." Leon sighed while leaning back onto the tree "And you must be my savior, Miss Naomi, I'm not a sentimental person, so don't expect thanks."
Leon finished inspecting his bow "Ill head that way, you can go back to your town now, adventurer." The figure behind the tree stepped out and leaned against the tree "Its not 'my town' nor do I own any reason to stay there. Plus, if you intend on going back to that white bear then I should be prepared to save you again." Leon stood up and started walking toward the mountain without saying anything else, Naomi walked up next to him and continued "I think that you should stay away from that bear, your just a copper class and a bronze class can barely handle that bear."
Leon had reached a recognizable area now but Naomi hadn't given up on following him. She did give up on changing his mind she just silently prepared to save him again. Once Leon reached the cave again, the white bear came out, Leon didn't try to hide this time. The bear charged him, and he dodged it and fired an arrow into its side. The bear growled and chased after Leon as he ran again, Naomi watched from a distance and sighed as the events replayed in front of her. Leon smiled as he ran this time, once he reached the right spot, he turned behind a tree and grabbed a spear from his pack.
He quickly turned right as the bear lunged at him again, he threw the spear at the bear and the bear quickly stopped lunging and staggered as the spear landed into its head. The bear whined a little but then charged at Leon in the last effort to kill him, Leon dodged and fired a shot right into the spot where he fired the last arrow, this time going through the former arrow and halfway through the bear's skull. The bear stumbled a little then slowly fell over in defeat, Leon walked up and grabbed his throwing spear from its skull, as the grass rustled behind him, he turned and saw Naomi.
She clapped while walking towards him "Congratulations, you killed a White Striker Bear, it's said to be one of the most deadly creatures for even bronze classes." Leon ignored her, he dragged the bear into the cave and prepared to skin it as he heard a sound come from the cave. He turned to see what happened and what he saw shocked him greatly.
