BOOM
The giant shadow cried out in pain as a prism of neon energy slammed into its side and exploded with great force. The creature's head whipped to the side as it attempted to locate its attacker. Its eyes easily locked onto a glowing pink form that wasn't trying to hide at all.
"Hey ugly!" Hitsu shouted as he waved his hands in the air, "Over here!"
The giant shadow turned completely to face Hitsu and let out an angry roar that shook the nearby buildings. As it stood on its hind legs, the shadow raised one of its claws high into the air. Before it could swing it down and crush Hitsu flat a bolt of lightning shot into the same spot it had already been hit. It swung its body to the side to see where it had come from. It quickly located a girl surrounded by electricity dancing atop a nearby building.
"I'm right here!" Nox yelled as she concluded her dance, "Come and get me!"
Without letting Nox leave its sight the shadow used its claw to scoop up a pile of nearby rubble. The giant creature pulled back its arm to launch the rubble in Nox's direction but found itself unable to move its arm forward. It turned its head to see its arm encased in a layer of rock. Before it could react the rock retracted back into the ground pulling the giant shadow down with it. The giant shadow's jaw slammed against the ground sending it bouncing back upwards. The force of the rising giant crumbled the rocks around its arm, freeing it in the process. The shadow shook its head and quickly recovered. It looked down to see a boy in a white cloak. He held his hands up to his mouth as he spoke.
"Hey, buddy!" Jinsuke shouted, "Look behind you!"
Before the shadow had a chance to comprehend Jinsuke's words a sharp pain filled its backside. Two deeps lines of pain started on its upper back and fell all the way to the ground. The shadow instinctively spun around as its wounds stung with pain. It quickly found its injuries were not caused by a blade but instead by two sharp bones protruding from a purple-haired girl's wrist.
"Whoops," Enai said causally, "sorry about that."
Infuriated the giant shadow bellowed out a deafening roar. Its cry would quickly turn from anger to pain as searing heat surrounded its unprotected feet and legs. The shadow looked down to find it was standing on nothing but flames. The giant shadow's eyes followed the flames to the palms of a black-haired boy.
"What's the matter, big guy?" Sel asked with a grin, "Can't handle the heat?"
Frustrated, the giant shadow slammed its arm down in Sel's direction. Before the hit could land Sel lept backward stopping the flames in the process. The giant shadow stomped its feet in outrage causing the buildings nearby to shake. It looked down angrily to see its five enemies standing before it, each with a smile on their faces.
"You guys ready?" Hitsu asked.
The other four nodded in confirmation.
"Alright!" Hitsu said proudly, "Let's give him hell!"
"Right!" The others shouted in return.
Just like that, the real battle had begun.
The giant shadow let out an intimidating roar as it brought one of its claws high into the air. As it attempted to slam its palm down on the row of heroes four of them lept away to safety leaving only the cloaked boy behind.
"Intercept!" Jinsuke shouted as he threw both of his hands in the air towards the incoming shadow's claw. As if acting to Jinsuke's will, the very Earth surrounding him responded to his call. Pillars of rock shot upwards from the ground and wrapped themselves around the shadow's wrist, blocking the incoming attack in the process. The shadow nearly fell from the sudden stop but it appeared to be much more worried about a different fact, the fact it was defenseless. Its worried eyes drifted to the right where two heroes prepared to attack.
As neon flowed around Hitsu it steadily formed in his hand in the shape of a lightning bolt. Nox danced next to him as electricity flowed around her body. Within moments Nox's hand held a yellow lightning bolt to match Hitsu's neon pink one.
On the shadow's side stood the other two heroes. Enai had rows of sharpened bones protruding from her arms that she broke off once they reached the length of a large knife. As the bones fell Sel caught them with a small ring of fire that spread to consume and cover the entire sharp bone. Using his control of flames, Sel floated the dozens of flaming bones he and Enai created in the air before them.
"Don't screw this up," Enai said coldly to Sel.
"Whatever you say, Princess," Sel responded while remaining focused on the task at hand.
"Ready!" Nox said firmly.
"Let it rip!" Hitsu ordered.
As Sel ordered the flaming bones forward Hitsu and Nox each threw their bolts of lightning forward. Unable to move in a way that would allow it to dodge the attacks the giant shadow had no choice but to take them fully. A pair of lightning bolts exploded against its right side and a piercing and burning pain consumed its left. The shadow could do nothing but cry out in pain.
"Yes!" Hitsu cheered, "Keep it up guys and we might just do this!"
Angered and out of ideas the shadows tactics faded away and a tantrum ensued. The shadow roared angrily as it stopped and slammed down its free arm and legs. The force of the giant creatures rampage destroyed the ground beneath it sending large pieces of rock flying into the air.
"Watch your heads!" Jinsuke warned.
"We'll be fine," Hitsu said calmly as he watched the rain of rocks, "we can each defend oursel..."
Hitsu was silenced by the last sound he wanted to hear... A scream.
"AHHHHHHH!" echoed throughout the area causing all heads to turn in the direction of its origin. On the ground at the start of one of the roads that led away from the town square lay a civilian. It was a man, his face twisted in fear and terror at the sights before him.
"What the hell?!" Sel shouted.
"I thought everyone evacuated!" Enai said worriedly.
Hitsu and Nox didn't speak, they both saw what the civilian was screaming about. It wasn't the giant shadow before him, but the giant rock that fell in his very direction.
"Hitsu!" Nox shouted in fear.
Hitsu responded by immediately creating another lightning bolt. In just moments the neon lightning bolt had left Hitsu had and was soaring through the air. Before the falling rock could strike the terrified man the bolt collided with it in the air. The rock exploded into hundreds of pieces leaving only dust and pebbles behind.
Relieved, Hitsu let out a sigh, a sigh that would send a shiver down his own spine. Hitsu quickly noticed that the sigh was the only sound he heard, the area was silent. Slowly, Hitsu turned his head and looked over his shoulder. The giant shadow was no longer rampaging and instead was eerily calm. Its head was lowered and its eyes remained locked on Hitsu. Then, slowly and methodically, the area around the shadow's mouth perked up around the edges. The giant shadow was smiling, smiling because now it knew...
...It knew their weakness.
