Chapter 36 - Scary Surprise

"What the hell! Knock it off!" Sel shouted angrily.

"What's the matter?" Enai asked smugly, a wide grin covering her face, "Fire Boy can't handle the heat?" Enai continued to shake the bottle of hot sauce in her hand causing more and more of the fiery liquid to fall onto Sel's plate and covering his eggs.

"The hell I can't!" Sel responded, "I just don't like hot sauce on eggs."

"Suuuuuuurrrrrre," Enai said in response.

"Fine!" Sel shouted as he snatched the bottle from Enai's hand. He quickly leaned across the table and started dumping the hot sauce onto Enai's unprotected breakfast.

"Hey!" Enai yelled in surprise, "Stop that!"

"What's the matter?" Sel mocked, "I can handle the heat, can you?"

"Uh-Yeah, of course, this is nothing," Enai said not willing to back down from Sel's challenge.

"You guys are just ruining your breakfast," Nox sighed, her arm placed strategically to protect her own plate. "Hitsu worked hard to make that food," she added.

"It's fine," Hitsu said. He looked over his shoulder as he leaned against the open front doorway of the guildhall. "This is really funny."

"Alright," Sel announced, "on three."

Both Sel and Enai had stabbed their hot sauce covered eggs with their forks and were preparing to eat.

"One," Enai started with a fierce grin on her face.

"Two," Sel continued with a smug smile.

"Three!" They both shouted before jamming their breakfast into their mouths. Immediately a burning wave of heat filled their mouths with unforgiving pain. The two tried their hardest to hide the pain from the other but it was fairly obvious they both couldn't handle the heat. Tears began to fill their eyes as they coughed and choked on the heat.

"Jeez," Nox laughed, "you guys deserve that."

Hitsu chuckled from the doorway before turning back to the city outside. Never before had the guildhall been this noisy and Hitsu wouldn't trade it for the world. It didn't matter that the people inside were bickering and arguing, they were there and that was all that matter to Hitsu.

Hitsu took a deep breath simply enjoying the fresh air. A light breeze shook the leaves as they clung to the trees and the sun beamed brightly from the sky. Many people would refer to the weather as a perfect day, a day to enjoy, something special. Hitsu looked at the people on the street below as they walked by, their faces were decorated with smiles as they forgot their worries and enjoyed the moment.

"Man," Hitsu said to himself, "I don't think this day can go wrong."

A thud from the sidewalk in front of Hitsu caused him to look down. He saw its source was a person, they lay face down on the hot cement, their body unmoving. Civilians walking by all stopped and stared just as shocked as Hitsu. The young man had been walking just moments before, but now he did nothing but resemble a corpse.

"Uhhh..." Slipped through Hitsu's lips. "That's not good."

...

Enai carefully inspected the young man as he lay still on the Future Veins dining table. Nox and Sel watched worriedly as Enai listened for a heartbeat and breathing. The young man had brown hair, short on the sides, and longer on the top. The young man gave bedhead a new definition as his messy hair stuck up in all directions. He wore an uninteresting set of attire, plain shirt, shorts, and shoes, the only thing that stuck out was the brown cloak he wore to cover his body. Eventually, Enai stood and sighed.

"He's breathing," Enai assured, "but he's likely dehydrated. He needs some water and a hospital visit."

"Wow Enai," Nox said impressed, "I'm surprised you have so much medical knowledge."

"I have to," Enai responded, "I have to know the bones to use them, so I picked up a lot of information while learning about them."

"So what do we do now?" Sel asked as he poked the young man's head, "Should we call an ambulance?"

"That seems like the best course of action," Enai replied.

"Don't bother," Hitsu said suddenly.

The three quickly turned to Hitsu. He leaned against the wall away from the rest of the group, his arms were crossed and his face lacked any sort of smile. Hitsu looked like a bundle of emotions, he looked annoyed, angry, sad, confused, it was impossible to read him. Everyone was so baffled by Hitsu mood and tone they failed to notice Juno had jumped onto the table and had begun playing with a tuft of the young man's hair.

"What do you mean?" Enai asked angrily, "Just because he's breathing doesn't mean he's healthy! His condition could get worse!"

"It won't," Hitsu said calmly.

"How do you know?" Nox asked curiously.

"I know because I know," Hitsu answered as he stood and began slowly walking to the table.

"What does that mean?" Sel asked confused.

Hitsu responded by asking Enai a question.

"Hey Enai," he said, "there's a way to check if someone is really unconscious, right?"

"Uh...Yeah..." Enai responded cautiously, "if you push up on someone's throat it will trigger their gag reflex. But this guy is for sure unconscious, I wouldn't..."

Without waiting for Enai to finish Hitsu placed his hand under the young man's throat and thrust his hand up mercilessly. After accomplishing this act Hitsu began to walk away slowly. The three watched as the young man didn't move an inch. Enai started to open her mouth to reprimand Hitsu but Nox tapping on her shoulder stopped her. After several seconds of no reaction, the young man took a loud breath and slowly began to open his eyes.

"What?" Enai said shocked, "How?"

"So you don't know that much huh?" Sel said smugly.

"Stop that Sel," Hitsu scolded seriously, "anybody would have thought he was unconscious. I'm one of the few who would know he was just sleeping."

"But how did you know?" Nox asked.

"Because I know this guy," Hitsu responded.

"You do?" Enai asked surprised.

Hitsu nodded in the young man's direction. Juno stepped back and the others watched as his eyes slowly opened and the young man yawned. He slowly sat up on the edge of the table and blinked the sleep out of his eyes. He tiredly scanned the room and realized he wasn't alone.

"Uhhh..." he said awkwardly as the situation set in. His eyes drifted from Nox to Enai, to Sel, before a voice caught his attention.

"Jinsuke," Hitsu said.

His eyes darted to Hitsu and his mouth opened in surprise.

"Hitsu?"
