MAROON
School was literal hell. You would think me being the lead suspect in an actual murder case would mean I get time off, but alas, here I am. People moved away from me in the halls, others gave me the dirtiest looks you can imagine. I tried to keep a smile on my face despite it all, tried to not lose my temper but they were testing me. I had heard that Mikey's friends were real pissed at me but I didn't hurt Mikey.
I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched. That someone knew something about me that I didn't want them to know. I found Theo smiling at me at the end of the hall. I quickly made my way over to him.
'Hey, do you think you'd want to skip with me? I have this weird feeling and I don't want to be here.' I said. He studied my face for a moment and ran his hand through his dark brown hair.
'Are you scared?' He asked.
'I don't know. I definitely don't feel safe though.'
'Do you guys have the feeling too?' Georgia asked startling me as she made her way to my side
'Like you're an animal in a cage being watched? yeah.' Theo answered
'Thank god you guys feel it too.' I pulled my jacket closed and fiddled with the zip. I didn't notice my hands were shaking until Theo took hold of the zip and pulled it up for me. Jet had driven me to school this morning so I go into Theo's car and Gigi followed behind us until we got to the lake. We all sat with our feet in the water and I immediately exhaled.
'This is nice.' I said 'everything is more relaxing here.'
'Yeah, school has been a little hard recently, huh' Theo said
'Are you guys getting trouble because of me? be honest' I asked
'We're best friends, mars, it doesn't matter if people don't like us because of that.' Gigi replied
'It matters to me if someone is upsetting you and I can do something about it.'
'You can't.' Theo said 'People will be rude either way, it doesn't matter if you're here or in jail, if we're friends or not. We're associated with you for life now.'
'You don't have to stick by me through this if it's too hard.' I said honestly. I knew how it felt to be the girl who was accused of murder. I never thought how hard it could be to be the friend of someone accused of murder. Gigi took hold of my hand
'We promised forever and we meant it. You're stuck with us, mars.' I smiled at my best friends.
Two of the people who would stick by me no matter how difficult it got for them. I think that's something to be admired, unconditional loyalty.
