Kite left the stall and planned to buy food next. The sword he bought come up with a free belt and sheath. The belt has no stats on it except for the durability. He tied the leather sheath on the belt and put it on. It was a little heavy but it didn't affect his movements at all. Now he looks like a warrior if it wasn't for his ragged clothes.
He started walking and started choosing which food he'll buy. It must not be pricey and must fill him up even if it doesn't taste good. He did not use this kind of lifestyle but what could he do? He could only blame his luck for being transmigrated here.
After spending 2 copper coins for bread and fruits that could last him for a day he realizes he forgot to buy something important for his adventure.
He needs to buy a city map.
He searched for stalls selling maps. After a while he finally found it. He asked the vendor how much for a city map but he was surprised by his reaction.
Kite was puzzled. Why would the vendor flash him a questioning look?
The vendor was silent for a while. Why would he buy a city map? Normally only wanderers or travelers from afar will buy maps for the city. Even though he doesn't know Kite's name he somehow knew he lives here in this city. Kite past self usually hangs around here to search for food that is either trash or leftovers. So a lot of vendors recognize him.
"Are you sure you need a city map? Or do you need the 'country's map'?" The vendor suddenly asked, emphasizing the word 'country's map' after staying quiet for a while.
"The city map please." Kite replied while realizing why the vendor asks him.
But what could he do? He couldn't just say that he has to sacrifice experience points to search his own memory, right? He doesn't even know how many experience points he'll use up just to find the memory fragment with the city laid out in it.
The vendor didn't fry in anymore and handed the map to Kite. "2 copper coins sir."
He gave the coins to the vendor and took the map. He was surprised to see the content of it. The map doesn't only depict the city but all the surrounding places near it.
The city was shaped like a circle and it said that it has an area of 2000km². It has 3 areas in it namely the core area with an area of 300 km², the inner area with an area of 650km², and the outer area which is the largest with an area of 1050 km². They are separated by tall walls over 20 to 100 meters. The center area had the highest and sturdiest walls. While the outer area has only 20 meters tall walls. And lastly the inner walls with 50 meters wall in it.
The center area of the city is where the City Lord resides, accompanied by people with titles such as earls, viscounts, and dukes. The Auction House was here and the Market Place here sells the expensive stuff. It was open for all kinds of people but it was heavily guarded so people can't do something that causes havoc.
The inner area is where you could find a lot of buildings. A ton of combat guilds reside here. The branch of Mercenary Alliance was also there. The Apothecary Hall where you concoct pills, the Forger's Building is also there where you could find a ton of weapons. And there are a lot more.
The outer area is where the commoners live and where the slums are located. Kite is on the Eastern side of the city. Here was the most frequently attacked area in the city. The forest here is more nearer compared to the other areas resulting in a frequent attack from monsters. The monster attack twice a month.
This city was called the Purple Moon City. And the City Lord, Maxis, was a Level 60 Mage. Just by his level alone, he reigns supreme here in this city with no one against him. He lived for almost 200 years with no one replacing his position. Conspiracies were useless. Only strength matters.
There were additional pieces of information on the map like where was the kingdoms' capital's direction. It was on the north-eastern side of the city and named the Radiant Dawn Kingdom. And the ruler there was a level 150 Assassin. All the City Lord under him only heed his command. Just by this, you can imagine how strong the ruler of this kingdom was.
The kingdom has approximately 112 Cities in its arsenal. And there are a lot of kingdoms and empires existing in this world. Unlike Earth, this world called 'Godryk' meaning God's Realm, was a hundred times larger than Earth. Luckily their language is the same as Earth's American English. But that doesn't mean that all of the people here speak English. There are a lot of species living in this world like demons, devils, elves, dwarves, and others with their own set of languages.
Kite was entranced by the information inside the map when one of the bread he's holding fell off his hand.
He realized it was such a hassle to carry the loaves of bread in his hand. Plastic or paper bag don't exist here in this slum market. You only carry them or put them in a basket.
He went to a stall selling bags and bought a simple shoulder bag for himself that cost only 2 copper coins. It was quite large but it fit him perfectly. He put all the loaves of bread and fruits inside and put the map on a certain pocket outside the shoulder bag so he can take it easy.
He decided to head to the Millow Forest just outside the eastern area. But before he does so he must first go to any Guild Hall to accept quests. It was said on the map that it was important to go to the guild first before going outside. It will cause you to earn more than just simply hunting monsters. You could collect herbs while hunting or hunt a specific kind of monster. There are a lot of auxiliary quests and major quests you could find in the Guild.
He headed to the inner gate so he can reach the nearest guild as possible. He must earn a lot of coins before the day ends so he could have coins to rent a room in an inn and buy food. He couldn't just sleep in the forest or in the street. It was too cold since his clothes were basically useless. Also, his food could only last him for a day.
He walked for a while then hailed a carriage for a copper coin. A lot of people were in the carriage, not just him. This was his first time riding a horse carriage. On Earth, he uses to commute using cars or a bus. Sometimes riding a bicycle but the carriage was a first.
The sceneries in the city were also unique. They were buildings and houses that were design like in Earth's medieval period. There were a lot of people wielding many weapons and people with books and staff. The road was a little bumpy be he can still manage. Kite couldn't believe that he was in a game-like world.
"'Godryk'. Why am I in this world? How could I returned back home?" Kite sighed.
After an hour or so he hailed the carriage to stop and walked towards the inner gate.
After reaching the inner gate the guards casually stop him, look at his face, then turned to see the pictures posted on the board.
These pictures were wanted persons in the city. When entering the inner area you don't need to pay any fees but you still have to cooperate with the guards. You will be immediately restrained if you try to force yourself in.
After looking at the board the guard didn't find anything odd at all and led Kite away. After entering the inner area Kite was stunned.
It was completely different from the outer area where he is from. All the people here have more refined clothing and the place was bustling. The outer area was also packed but here was another thing. He headed to the nearest Guild Hall he can see and look at the sign.
Savior's Guild
Kite entered the guild and was stunned at what he saw. The screen showed that all of them here are at least level 5 to level 30. The higher leveled one looks much older and fiercer than the low-level ones.
The building was made from wood and stone. It was quite huge. Different kinds of people were here. Although the adventurers inside the guild were ferocious-looking, the atmosphere was both bright and pleasant nonetheless.
He walked in front of a lady receptionist. She was tall and beautiful but her ears were slightly pointed. She was obviously an elf. There are a lot of subspecies of elves but all of them with pointed ears were all commonly called elves.
There is no discrimination here in Purple Moon City. This city houses different kinds of races. But that doesn't mean that all kingdoms and cities were discrimination-free. There were human kingdoms that have strict rules, one of them was directly killing races not their own. Cultures, traditions, and religious differences were what causes these conflicts.
"What could I do for you, sir...?" The beautiful elf asked Kite respectfully. Her voice was so sweet that it was like a melody in one's ear.
Kite was briefly stunned for a while before replying. "You can call me Kite."
"Are you planning to sign up as an adventurer?" The elf asks once more.
"Yes." He simply replied
"It'll cause 10 silver for a membership." The elf slowly said. She noticed the boy in front of him was obviously from the slum. So she cautiously stated the price.
"10 silvers!?" Kite growled. This was a lot of coins. He didn't know where he could get that amount of money.
The elf simply smiled as if she was used to this kind of reaction. She simply pointed to a board with a lot of papers and said to Kite once again. "You don't need a membership to take a quest. Membership will only provide you both shelter and food for a year. You could also pick higher grade mission if you have a membership and people could request you personally for help."
She slowly continued, "Complete quest and earn 10 silvers so you could have a membership and earn more money. And also don't worry all the quest there can be completed without any restriction to class and level."
Kite nodded and thanked the elf.
The beautiful elf only nodded back and talked to the person behind him.
He walked in front of the quest board and began to choose.
There were a lot of quest boards on the guild house. This particular quest board in front of him was small and made of dark wood.
After a while, he finally found two suitable quests that can be finished easily and provide a lot of coins albeit not enough to get a membership.
He pondered if he'll get the paper of the board or simply tell the receptionist. He was about to turn back to ask the elf when he saw someone tapping the quest and simply left. He was daze and mimic his action.
When his finger taps the paper a message appeared in front of him.
Will you accept this quest?
Yes or No|
Kite said yes in his mind and the quest information appeared on the screen in front.
System: Auxiliary Quest "Flower Collector" accepted.
Difficulty Grade: F
Quest Details: Collect 5 or more Argentin Flowers in the Millow Forest and bring the flowers back in the Guild|
He also accepts the second quest he took.
System: Combat Quest "Pitiful Hunter" accepted.
Difficulty Grade: F
Quest Details: Slay two Wild Boar in Millow Forest and bring back the corpse in the Guild|
Kite turned around and left the guild. He left the inner area after looking around. Luckily he has 1 copper left and hailed a carriage. He was both excited and anxious about this journey ahead.
