I was really worried about lunch since I heard Bridger has it out for me. I mean why me?
All my classes went by by a blur and before I knew it was lunch. I was really exited to see Asher but... Maybe I could just skip lunch?
No you can do this Hazel, Bridger is nothing compared to what you have been through.
I walked into the cafeteria and saw Asher wave at me from the back. I smiled and walked over. I saw Jessie but Bridger was no where to be found.
"Hey Basil!" Asher said kissing me on the cheek "How was your day?" He asked.
"Good I met Jessie today" I said sitting down.
Asher groaned and looked over at Jessie. "Jess what did you tell her"
Jessie held his hands up and shook his head "Nothing man. Well nothing that she won't hear soon." He said grinning.
Asher groaned and looked at me. "Please ignore him. He has no idea what he is talking about." I laughed. That's not what it seemed like when we talked.
We fell into a steady conversation until Bridger came up. He was wearing a leather jacket and a navy blue shirt under it. His skinny jeans weren't very skinny but it looked nice. I guess.
"Hey Bridge come meet Hazel!" Asher said man hugging him.
I smiled at him politely but all he gave me was a glare. What did I do to you?
He sat in between Jessie and Asher.
"Hi Brigder I'm Hazel." I said trying to sound as unthreatening as possible.
I don't think it worked. He grunted and sat down in front of me. It was just uncomfortable after that I tried making small talk with him but he just ignored me. So Jessie, Asher and me all started talking. They asked questions about me and I answered as truthfully as possible without giving to much away.
"Why do you walk home?" Jessie asked me and I stopped. Not because it's a weird question it's a weird answer. But I didn't give them the weird answer which consisted of my whole life story. I have them the regular answer.
"I don't live very far and I like thinking by myself." I said.
"So why were you guys at my pool then?" Asher asked looking confused. He lives at the border of the school district so this was a problem. I tried to come up with a good story of why we ended up on the other side of the school zone but nothing came to mind so I just said that Calix liked the snacks.
I don't think they bought it but Jessie and Asher let it go. But not Bridger.
"You do know they have the same snacks everywhere right?" He asked scaring me with how much he thought this through.
"Well the pool was closed that day too." I stated thinking I shut him down.
"But it wasn't because I was there all weekend!"
Okay wow this boy is either making things up or he has supernatural powers. I would go with the former.
"Bridge stop! If she doesn't want to tell us she doesn't have to!" Jessie whisper-yelled to Bridger.
"But she's lying! Doesn't that concern you?" He yelled a little too loudly because everyone looked at our table. He sat there awkwardly smiling until they stopped looking.
"Look all I'm saying is that she's hiding something and when I get it out of her you're all going to wish that I had figured it out sooner!" Bridger said getting up and walking away.
I was shaking after he walked away but nothing g compared to Asher. He banged his hands on the table and ran to the other side of the cafeteria where Bridger was getting a drink of water.
I would have sat there with Jessie but I really needed to pee. When I get nervous I have to pee. Kind of embarrassing.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom." I said getting up and walking to the bathrooms.
I was about to turn the corner when I heard Ashers voice. So I stopped.
"Dude stop! You have no idea what her family life is like! I am in the dark too! But don't drive her away. I really like her." He said.
"I will. But y'all better not come running to me when she breaks your heart!" Bridger said walking away.
I really hoped Bridger was just hormonal today.
