Reynold Windblade sat at his desk in his office, examining a stack of papers for review. It was highly important he needed to get through these, as these reports determined what his company, Reynold Enterprises, needed to do in order to continue making a profit.
After all, his company, the one he built up from scratch, was the biggest and most influential company in all of London.
Most of their company consisted of buying and selling magical artifacts, in order to gain enough profit to keep London rolling. His company's funds alone were the sole reason that London today is in a good economic state.
Before he had built his company from scratch, many people suffered in London, even those who were considered middle class. But bit by bit, he turned it around and helped create the buzz London now has today.
Growing up in the Windblade family under his father, Solomon Windblade, was far from easy. As he was the oldest of his siblings, he was expected to perform the best. However, his air magic lacked what Solomon expected.
Due to this, he had a tough childhood. His younger siblings looked down upon him. It was a struggle for him to perform so well in a family that always expected better. However, he had found his talent - business.
His talents in understanding and analyzing how money works and flows brought him really far. He turned London upside down with his brilliant tactics and ideas, bringing him where he is today. He is now easily one of the most influential people in all of London, even rivaling his own father.
He may not be on the best terms with his father, but he was glad his father finally recognized talents and he could be of use to all of London.
Now, how do I deal with this, he thought to himself, reading one of the papers that had come in. It was not a report, but a proposition.
The tapping of his finger on his desk was the only other sound in his office. It became faster and faster, and his mind paced to decide what he would do.
Aren't you just a handful?, he thought to himself, thinking about the person who sent this proposition in. He couldn't help but laugh to himself.
The door to his office immediately opened. "Did you need anything sir?," a familiar voice asked.
"Oh no, I am fine. Now please, leave me be," he answered.
"Very well sir," the voice replied, quickly shutting the door.
After the door had shut, Reynold thought to himself about the royal banquet, hosted by the royal family, to which he attends each year.
He remembered an interesting character there, one he had never seen there previously. That person had caught his eye tremendously.
What was his name again?, he thought to himself, wracking his brain for information. Ah yes, it was Allen Fleming.
For a person like Reynold who practically stands at the top in London, it is difficult for others to catch his eye. But when they do, he knows interesting things will be coming ahead.
I do hope you can amuse me in the future, Allen Fleming, he thought with a smirk on his face, as he gave the proposition one last glance.
He decided he would take a short break from his work, so he swiftly got out of his chair and pushed it in. He did a small stretch, before leaving his office.
Solomon Windblade was once again in a meeting with the other Triumvirate officials.
They host a meeting weekly, for everyone to catch up with current events, and what they shall do moving forward.
Normally, all three leaders of the Triumvirate, including himself, would be here. However, both Judith and Giles had other business to attend to.
"-and so with this pressing matter, we must urgently move in to de-escalate the situation," one of the officials continued. "It is only a matter of time before the fire mages once again cause mayhem, and of course we must all be ready to stop them!"
Agreement easily filled the room. Other than a few words, everyone mostly nodded.
Solomon guessed they were talking about the incident that took place just the other week. The fire mage who was reported being seen, and the magical knights that failed to apprehend him.
As the official continued to talk, he looked over at his secretary, Julian, who stood next to him.
Julian gave him a small smirk, and unfortunately Solomon knew what he meant by that.
Once the official was done talking, Julian began to speak about the matter, and that began to continue on for a bit longer.
Solomon knew this meeting wouldn't be ending anytime soon, so he decided to just listen in case anything important is reported.
How have things come to be this way?, he thought to himself. What will come of the future?
He once again thought back to when he was sent on the field to help apprehend the fire mage. That one student he saw… who was he?
He was with the magical knight, who was escorting him back with the other students. But for some reason, he had caught his eye.
Have I seen him before?, he thought. Where have I seen him if so?
As he pondered his thoughts, the day continued on like usual.
William Windblade sat in his office, quickly going through his paperwork. He rushed to get done as fast as he could, as paperwork was the last thing he wanted to do.
Normally, he would put it off further like usual, but he knew if he put it off even more than he already has, he would have to deal with Rose and he did not want that.
As he began to go through the paperwork, he once again got into his habit of thinking about his troubled past.
He wished things had turned out better than they had. He wished that he had done more. And he wished that he could do more to fix what had already been done.
I'm sorry Christina, he thought, once again mentally apologizing to her. Although he will never see her again, the least he can do is try to do better. I will do my best to keep my promise to you, even if I almost broke it once.
Unfortunately, the most he can do now is work as his position as Head Director and ensure the success of future magical knights.
As he continued to go through the paperwork, he found some that had to do with the upcoming Annual Magical Knights Tournament, which is hosted every year.
Oh yeah, Allen will have to participate in that. And win four consecutive duels, he thought to himself, chuckling. Who was it again who made him do that? Ah yeah, it was me.
He shook his head as he chuckled to himself again.
Allen, I know you are busy training and getting stronger, but I know for sure you will do well in the tournament, even if you don't win, he thought to himself again, even if Allen couldn't hear him.
If only his mother…, he started to think, but stopped himself. Best not to delve once again into his habits.
He decided to focus only on the paperwork, even if he had trouble doing so, in order to avoid more thoughts about the past.
Allen Fleming was once again in the training room, with all of the current club members. They were all practicing hard in order to prepare for the preliminaries that will be coming in soon.
While they may all already be ready, they wanted to ensure they would be successful, because each and every one of them who would be participating will want to do their best.
So far the participants for sure will be Cecily, Thomas, Stephen, Rose, and of course Allen. Alice/Sarah and August would be sitting out.
"Allen, over here!," Thomas called out.
"What's up?," he asked, walking over.
"How do you think I am doing?," he asked. He was practicing casting his magic, since that was his weakness. He is good up close and personal, but wanted to practice ranged attacks.
"Cecily thinks I am doing fine, but I wanted your opinion as well!," he added.
"Hm, not my specialty, but I think you are doing an excellent job!," he replied.
"Thanks Allen!," he replied, grinned
Now then, my own training, he thought.
"Allen, over here!," Rose called out.
"Coming!," he announced. Guess his own training will have to wait.
"August and I are practicing against each other. I'm having a hard time against him, despite my up close and personal rapier. What do you suggest?," she asked.
"Sorry, I am just well trained," August shrugged, while Allen looked over at him. Despite Rose's excellent skills, even she could not get close to August.
"Hm, I suppose since you are up close and personal, I would suggest practicing taking steps back," Allen advised.
"Interesting…," August said aloud. Did Allen really say something that interesting?
"Oh, good idea! Thanks Allen!," she replied with a big smile, blushing a little.
"Yeah, you're welcome," Allen replied, diverting his eyes.
Now then, back to what I was-
"Allllllennnnn!," Sarah called out.
Oh no, Allen thought, as he slumped his head down. Here we go again!
Before walking over to Sarah, he looked down at his sword, which was currently sheathed away. He rested his right hand, the one which he wore the glove, on the sword's hilt.
I promise you mother, whoever you are and wherever you may currently be, that I will do my best in the tournament, become a magical knight, and may one day find out who you are, he thought, taking in a deep breath.
He continued doing his best to help everyone out, finally getting to his own training after about an hour had passed.
We have a long road ahead of us!, he thought, while doing his own training. May we all be successful in this upcoming tournament!
