"Really? That's what happened between you two?," William laughed hard.
"It's not funny!," Allen exclaimed, slamming his hands on William's desk.
"Sorry, I can't help it. It reminds me of when I attended this academy," William wiped his eyes due to his excessive laughing.
"So you're telling me you were involved with girls when you were a student here?," Allen eyed him curiously.
"Uh, no comment," William crossed his arms.
"So you do admit you were after some girls here?," Allen eyed him further.
"Still no comment," William shrugged. "But anyways, you shouldn't let that all get to you. I understand where you are coming from, but I'm sure you'll both be fine in a week!"
"If she doesn't kill me by then," Allen's head fell down as he sighed.
The morning after Rose had confessed to Allen and he turned her down, they finally headed back to the academy.
The ride back was far from not being awkward. Both Allen and Rose could not talk to each other, due to their conversation the night before. Everyone seemed to take notice of the tension between Rose and Allen, but no one dared to ask. This left the ride back quieter than usual. Even Alice prohibited Sarah from taking over, otherwise she could make the situation worse.
Once everyone had gotten back, they all headed their separate ways. Everyone was tired from the trip, and they had classes the next morning.
However, Allen remained in William's office after everyone left. William could easily tell there was something amiss, and questioned Allen about it. Allen told him everything that happened the night before, which led up to their discussion now.
"I doubt she will try to kill you. She just needs some space away from you before you two can talk and be good friends again," William assured him.
"Are you sure about that?," Allen asked, worried. "I really hope our friendship isn't ruined from that. I tried to be as nice to her about it as I could"
"Yes, Allen. I am sure she will start talking to you again. You two are good friends, and I doubt that would completely ruin it for both of you. Just let her come back to you when she is ready, and your friendship will be fine," William elaborated.
"I really hope so," Allen scratched the back of his head.
Although Allen tried the best he could to be nice about it, he still couldn't help but feel a little guilty. A part of his mind thought that things could not go back the way they were before.
"Was there anything else you wanted to talk about?," William asked him.
"No, I think that was it," Allen responded as he got out of his chair.
"Alright, I'll see you later. I got a bunch of paperwork to do," he sighed as he placed a huge stack of papers on his desk.
"Just how much paperwork do you have to do?," Allen worriedly eyed the extreme amount of papers on William's desk.
"Enough," he sighed again. "This is what happens when you leave the academy to be attended by Walter. He made sure to save all the 'fun' stuff for me when I got back from my 'vacation'"
"I mean to be fair, it was a bit of a vacation," Allen shrugged.
"Why does my position as head director mean I have to do all of this crap!," he yelled as he spun around in his chair.
"Well, I'll leave you to it. Thanks for listening," Allen said as he began to walk out.
"Anytime," he smiled back at him, though you could tell there was anxiety in his eyes as he realized what he would have to do after Allen left.
"Oh, by the way," Allen remembered something before he left. "Why didn't you tell me Rose was the girl I trained alongside years ago?"
"I- I assumed you would've remembered her," William responded, not looking up as he worked on the papers.
"That's weird," Allen mumbled to himself, but decided to leave instead of questioning further. The door squeaked as he closed it.
William waited until he heard Allen's footsteps walking away from his room. "If it were only that simple," he sighed. He continued working on his paperwork.
The next day, it was time for all of them to return to class. Allen, Thomas and Cecily all met up in the cafeteria to eat breakfast before class.
"Man, I wish the breakfast here was actually good!," he complained as he chewed his food.
"You say that, but you still eat it," Allen grinned as he went to take a bite of his own food.
"Tom, just be lucky you're getting free food," Cecily rolled her eyes as she was studying a book. She had already eaten her food.
"Yeah, but is it too much to ask if the food could just be slightly better!," he exclaimed through his chews.
"Chew first, and then talk," Cecily rolled her eyes again.
"I can't help it!," he muffled as he finished chewing. Allen couldn't help but laugh.
"Did you guys enjoy the club trip?," Thomas asked before taking another bite. "I thought it was a lot of fun!"
"Yeah, I enjoyed it," Allen answered awkwardly, as the mentioning of the trip reminded him of Rose.
"What about you Cecily?"
"I thought it was a change of pace," she responded as she flipped to the next page in her book.
"I personally thought it was so exciting! Going to the beach, swimming in the ocean, and then playing elemental volleyball! It was amazing!," he smiled.
"Elemental Volleyball sure was wild," Allen laughed.
"Anyways, have you guys heard of the rumors of the new transfer student?," he asked giddily.
"I haven't. Are we getting a new student in our class?," Allen asked, curious.
"No, but apparently this student is a big deal!," Thomas exclaimed.
"In what way?," Cecily asked without looking up from her book.
"I heard from some students that the transfer student is a girl and she is really hot!," Thomas grinned.
"Oh? Care to elaborate?," Cecily looked up and glared at him.
"Uh, I mean, uh-," Thomas couldn't form his words as he realized Cecily's anger was rising.
"Go on. I am patiently waiting," her eyes were like daggers.
"She's… hot. Very hot," he shifted in his chair uneasily.
"Oh? Is that all?," Cecily smiled at him through her glare.
"Uh, and… I think that's it?"
"Good," she smiled as she went back to reading.
"Well, that's a first…," Allen scratched his head.
"Allen, why does she do that?," Thomas leaned in and whispered furiously into Allen's ear.
"Dude. You are hopeless," Allen laughed.
"Why?," Thomas exclaimed, loud enough that several other people from other tables looked over.
Allen didn't respond and went back to eating. Cecily continued to read her book. After the three of them finished eating, they headed together to their classroom.
The three of them entered the classroom and began to head to their normal seats. The other two students who attended the class were already there.
"Did you three enjoy your little vacation?," Ms. Florence asked, not looking up from the book she always reads.
"Vacation?," Allen and Thomas asked at the same time, looking at her and then each other.
"Nevermind. I don't want to know," she said as she continued to read.
Allen and Thomas looked at each other in confusion as Cecily already took her seat.
The three of them went back to studying together, as they normally did throughout the week. Thomas was having a hard time concentrating, as he was too focused on thinking about the trip and the supposed transfer student.
Allen was also having a hard time concentrating, as he too was thinking about the club trip, but for different reasons.
After a few times of Cecily trying to get them to pay attention, she finally gave up. This was probably the first time ever she let them be. She could probably tell there was no getting through to both of them this time.
After class time was finally over, it was finally time for the Training Club to meet up once again after the club trip.
"Finally! Class time is over!," Thomas stretched out of his chair.
"You say that as if you actually did anything during class," Cecily sighed.
"What?," Thomas shrugged, as if he didn't do anything bad.
"Well it's time to meet up again with the rest of the club members," Allen reminded them, though he felt nervous as he didn't know if Rose would be there or not.
"I can't wait!," Thomas practically jumped in place. "Time for some more training!"
"Back to the usual schedule throughout the week," Allen grinned as he got his stuff together.
"Boring class, fun training," Thomas added while they began to walk out.
They walked over to the training room, where they always met for their club.
"We're here!," Thomas announced as the three of them had entered the room.
"We were waiting for you guys," Stephen said as he and Alice watched them come in.
All of the club members were now here, except for Rose. Though, Allen was suspecting that would happen.
"So, where's Rose?," Thomas asked while looking throughout the room, as if she was hiding somewhere.
"She hasn't shown up at all. I'm not sure where she is," Stephen explained, shrugging.
"Maybe she's working on student council stuff?," Cecily suggested.
"No… we definitely agreed to all meet up here after getting back from the club trip," Stephen said as he was thinking to himself.
Allen knew the real reason she wasn't here, but didn't want to say anything. He was embarrassed and nervous enough about it as was.
"Is she okay? I felt something was up with her on the way back from our trip," Cecily asked.
"Hmm, not sure. I'll talk to her later before I head back to my dorm if I happen to spot her," he reassured them as he nodded his head. "On another note, did you guys enjoy the club trip?"
"Of course! It's by far my favorite thing so far in the year!," Thomas responded, beaming.
"It was definitely different," Cecily nodded.
"Fun," Alice blankly answered.
"Yeah, I enjoyed it," Allen scratched the back of his head, once again remembering what happened between Rose and him.
"I definitely enjoyed elemental volleyball! I hope we can do it again!," Thomas smiled.
"Yeah, it was definitely fun. Although, Alice absolutely destroyed us," Stephen laughed. "Just how are you so good at that game Alice?
"Don't know. Just easy," she shrugged.
"Alice, you need to teach me your ways in elemental volleyball," Thomas pleaded.
"Just win," she gave him a small smile and a thumbs up.
"But how?"
"Tom, you're just bad at the game," Cecily sighed.
"Why do you have to do this to me?," Thomas exclaimed as he fell to the floor as everyone laughed.
"I do hope that we can go on another trip before the year ends," Stephen said after Thomas got back up.
"I really hope we can!," Thomas beamed.
"I wouldn't mind that," Cecily responded.
"Sure,"Alice nodded.
"What about you Club President?," Stephen smirked.
"Yeah, sure," Allen smiled, but still thinking about what happened.
"By the way Stephen, have you heard about the rumors of the new transfer student?," Thomas asked, smirking.
"Oh? You mean of the new hottie entering the academy?," Stephen smirked back.
"Ugh, not this again," Cecily rolled her eyes.
"So, what have you heard Stephen?"
"I don't know the full details, but apparently the academy is holding an assembly in the auditorium. Least, that's what my father told me"
"They're holding an assembly for the transfer student?," Thomas exclaimed, surprised. "Is she like, really important or something?"
"I'm not sure, but I think Mr. Garet has something to do with it," Stephen said, contemplating.
"Mr. Garet? You mean the one of the vice directors?," Thomas asked, confused.
"Yes. It seems whoever this new transfer student is, is connected to Mr. Garet in some way," Stephen responded.
"Interesting. Either way, I can't wait to see who this transfer student is," Thomas grinned.
"Of course. Apparently she's really hot," Stephen smirked.
"Ugh," Cecily rolled her eyes again. She went to sit by herself and start to read until they were done with their conversation.
Stephen and Thomas started to whisper to themselves, smirking the whole time. Allen couldn't help but laugh.
After Thomas and Stephen had their conversation, everyone met up again for a bit. They all talked a bit more about the club trip, until it was time for them to leave, although Thomas was upset that they didn't have any time to train.
Everyone left the room, except for Allen who didn't leave right away. He was too busy in his thoughts that he didn't realize everyone had left right away. He finally decided to leave, heading back to his dorm.
On his way back the halls were really quiet, as they normally were when classes and clubs were no longer in session. He could easily hear his own footsteps as he slowly made his way back to his dorm room.
As he was getting close to finally getting back, he thought he saw someone passing by him. For a split second, it seemed to a girl with long, black hair. For a moment, the thought of the transfer student had popped into his head.
But by the time he had finally turned around to get a better look, they were already gone.
