The summer rains in flashing sheets of coldness pit pat the roof, bathed the flower buds enabling then to open. The magnificent scents of the wild blooms spread everywhere alongside the cold winds that blew with such a powerful passion, causing the trees to sway and grasses to flatten.
From his cozy bed, watched the old documents from his study desk scatter like leaves of fall and spread out on the floor. The giddy currents braced with moisture rushed through the open window and soaked the documents wet. It was quite stormy but refreshing in a way. He scratched the back of his head confused whether to close to the window or stay wrapped up in the never ending warmth of his bed. After moments of indecision, he pushed off the covers, and crept out of bedand went to close the open window. The wind being his nemesis cooked up old memories that washed over his mind. He found himself staring blankly into the dark, unable to stop the memory tapes from rolling.
Suddenly he was 17 again, a brown haired boy in perfect coffee hues. The color of his eyes was ocean blue, all large and bold braced with thick lashes. He was essentially symmetrical, most especially the cheekbones but it extended from the way he laughed to the upright posture. He was what his parents had donned beauty, always delicate in the hands of others but had manned up with strength and agility to tame and slay the dragons from the inside... Unlike the boys of his age, he had had a special birth, from a paramount bloodline of the shadow guardians. He was assigned to protect the mundane world from the shadow world but far more importantly, he had a special task. Finding and protecting the ONE.
The infinite search had never paid off but instead robbed him of a lot including his parents. The horrors of the same fateful night appeared again in the darkness beyond despair. The dismaying memories hereminisced like as if it was yesterday, sending hot gloomy tears rolling down his cheeks. On that fateful night, he had come back from the shadow academy He had climbed up the stairs to his room, aiming at avoiding his parents' innervation and constant advice but minutes later, he had overheard his mom crying for helpin the living room. He threw down his school bag on the door way, and rushed to the living room but was too late.
The unconscious bodies surrounded by pools of blood greeted him. He rushed over to his dad but he was dead already. His throat was slit. The head lay at an unnatural and disturbing angle. His eyes and eyes were open. His skin was discolored due to blood loss, and the blood that had sprayed from his neck, formed a thick pool, some splashed on the walls and was already dry. Jace's eyes squeezed shut as hot gloomy tears fell down his cheeks. He closed his father's eyes and mouth, mumbled a goodbye and over to his mum. Tortured sobs escaped her throat. She breathed haltedly in attempt to control the pain and shock. There was fear in her eyes when she realized that she would never see sunrise later alone her only child. Her fists unclenched, her blood soaked fingers caressed his cheek. She tried to speak but words barely came out of her mouth. The only last words managed to say were. 'STOP LOOKING FOR HER.THEY KNOW YOU TOO WELL. THEY WILL KILL YOU TOO". She then breathed her last, in his arms leaving him orphaned at 17... Back then, he had been blinded by the shock, not to hear the forthcoming devil's sirens. The he-devil who had just slain his parents confronted him from the back, aiming at slitting his throat too but he had dodged the blade. He had subpoenaed fire with a spell, coercing the monster to run away.
Weeks later, the police had resolved his parents' death as a patricides deeming him the prime suspect. The murder weapon was never found but the police intended to believe that he had a hidden motive. There were also stories of his unending vendetta against his parents which had no roots. .The prosecution charged him with murder on first trial. The judge dismissed the case on second trial due to lack of substantial evidence, declaring him a free man after a year of imprisonment.
On the other hand, he became a society outcast. He was referred to as a sociopath, who had got a get out of jail free card just because of his rich background. Everywhere he went, people stared at him with disgust. That hurt. No matter how he craved to say that he was in the right, he did not have a choice to. The secrets of the other world were not to be revealed to the mundane world. The council had said. Whatever is said in the powder room stays in the powder room" That's what one of the council members had said, while visiting him in prison. The secrets behind the double lives were treasure that he had to protect with his life. Even if it meant rotting in jail. They did not promise to find the killer, but threatened him to cover their tracks.
Years later, he managed to be successful despite the criminal record on his resume. With the help of his cousins, Pearl and Aiden, he inherited his parents' fortune that he never knew to have existed in the first place. His parents had lived double lives, built up financial dynasties and empires all which they left in his names. They must have seen this coming. He became youngest billionaire with the most investments in the sin creek town and the outside world. His investments had reached as further as Western Europe and Italy. He was also in partnership with the Heeler's mostly in shipping and constructions. He lived a life that was desired by everyone despite being an outcast. He topped the sin creek observer headlines alongside his cousins Pearl and Aiden. He was praised by the senate for his hard work, the enormous donations he gave to the needy and the orphans and for the successful investments. The judge even applauded him for being a righteous citizen. This he didn't care but continued to search for his parents' killer. It was surprising that every time he came too close, a mystery popped up, and after endless times of blood, sweat and tears, a name appeared.
