Truth or Dare?
This was to be expected of course but man, no game scared me more than this one. It was risky and unsafe, second only to gambling. Uh...don't mind that, the exaggeration was a little bit too much.
The things they ask you to do! Whenever I played itโwhich was only thriceโI went with truth. But that last time, the question thrown at me was so outrageous that I could not answer. The question was, ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ต๐ถ๐ณ๐ฏ๐ด ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐ฏ? I went red to my toes. My answer would have been even more embarrassing so I reconsidered the options and went for dare.
I regretted it of course.
I was asked to go into the boys locker room, smack an ass and run. Of course I didn't do it. I couldn't do it. I paid the price, thirty bucks.
Yep, I was stupid, you don't have to tell me.
So I was going to pass on this one. I stared at the canned beer in my hand. It wasn't like me to be impulsive. Alcohol wasn't something I fancied especially at my age but I suddenly wanted to unwind. There was a first time to everything. ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฅ๐ข๐บ. ๐๐ฏ๐ญ๐บ ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฅ๐ข๐บ. I told myself. Everyone else was doing same so why not?
The can was snatched out of my hands and replaced with a soft drink. Confused and almost annoyed I looked up at the face of this gutsy person.
Sam smiled down at me. "Isn't this what you meant to take?"
"You must be psychic". I let my tone drip with sarcasm. "Unfortunately, you're wrong this time". I opened the cooler and replaced the soft drink with a beer.
"Alex...please". His eyes spoke much more than his mouth. I repressed the urge to beam at him and tell him I was done being angry.
"What? You got something more you wanna say?" I raised a brow. His eyes pleaded with me to stop. "I guess not. Stop bothering me".
He gritted his teeth. " Very well then". He shrugged nonchalantly and sat down with two other guys on a log.
Oh? He was giving up just like that? Like he didn't care again what I did with myself. I angrily opened it and took a large swig.
Mirabel laughed and drawled "Easy does it, princess". That bitch.
I squeezed my eyes shut as the alcoholic drink hit my throat. It was harsh and had a bitter flavour to it. This was what people enjoyed? I set it aside.
Samson snorted. "Drama queen".
I wanted to throw back a retort but held back.
"We shall now begin our game!" Catch announced heartily assuming the position of an MC. The audience clapped just as heartily, their eagerness not hidden from their faces. "I'll make some things clear before we proceed. The rules to follow are the original rules of Truth or Dare except for the part where you proceed clockwise in the circle for the next turn. I'll spin a bottle in the middle of the circle. Once the spinning stops, the player the bottom of the bottle points to can ask the player the bottleneck points to, "Truth or Dare"?If you pick "truth", honestly answer whatever question is asked, no matter how embarrassing it is. If you pick dare, perform the challenge given by the other players. And if a player backs down on a dare, all other players choose a dare of their own and the player picks a dare among all their new dares. Okay??" He waited for confirmation before he continued. "Anyone who doesn't want to participate? Leave this circle now before it's too late".
I looked at the faces around me. It was clear that no one was ready to miss out on the fun. I wanted to go but I did not have the courage to be the only coward in the group.
"Anyone?" Catch asked again.
๐๐ฉ, ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ฆ ๐ช๐ด ๐ฎ๐ฆ. I tried to catch Sam's eye but he did not look my way.
"Okay". Catch produced a plastic bottle. "Let's go!" He started to spin the bottle but stopped. "The fire is in our way. Take a moment to make a new circle please".
We did just that.
He spinned the bottle. While we waited for it to stop, my heart threatened to drop to the pit of my stomach.
After the ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐จ wait, it finally went still. I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw neither the bottom nor neck pointing to me.
I escaped one spin, uncountable to go.
It pointed to two boys who were unknown to me. The brown haired boy who the bottom pointed to grinned wickedly at the black haired boy. "Truth or Dare?"
"Dare".
๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ญ.
"Come to the middle and twerk".
๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ต? Everyone cracked up in laughter. I shook my head. You now see what I meant right?
The black haired guy went red in the face. "You've lost it, Oliver".
The brown haired guy, Oliver, waggled his brows. "You're keeping me waiting".
"Music!"
The initial slow song immediately changed to Juvenile's ๐๐ข๐ค๐ฌ ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐๐ป๐ป ๐๐ฑ.
Everyone began cheering. I'm ashamed to say that... I cheered too. Haha, the excitement was infectious.
The black haired boy started dancing, albeit slowly. Then he changed gears so fast no one knew when he did and was twerking. Hard. Whoa. He was surprisingly very good. Man, was I entranced.
Catch spinned the bottle again. And again I held my breath while it rotated.
It didn't point in my direction. My excitement was instantaneous. The game was fun only when I wasn't participating. This time the bottom pointed to a boy and the neck pointed to a girl.
The guy licked his lips. Okay that was so not a great start. "Truth or Dare, Baby?"
The girl narrowed her eyes and thought for a second or two. "Truth?"
"Where's the weirdest place you've had sex?" He asked right away like he's been saving it for her.
"Duh, I've never done ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ deed".
He didn't believe her but he let it go.
The bottle was spinned again and my eyes widened at the outcome. Mirabel was to ask Sam.
"Truth or Dare?" She purred.
"Truth please". Sam replied without much interest.
"I'm disappointed you went for that". She indeed sounded disappointed. "Lights on or lights off?"
I rolled my eyes. What was with everyone asking stupid questions.
"Lights on for sure". He drawled with a lazy smile and the boys beside him laughed and playfully hit his ribs. Was that something to smile about? He looked at me then and I looked away.
Three more interesting rounds went by. They had all chosen dares.
The next bottle spin made me jump up from my seat. The bottleneck pointed to me and guess who was on the other end? Elijah Dolly Samson. No way in hell, I thought as I glanced at his smirking face.
"I'm gonna have to run. I sneaked out so I must've been found out. I must go now, thanks for having me". I said to no one in particular and made to run but Catch stepped in front of me.
"Come on, Princess you can't leave just yet". He informed me with laughing eyes.
"You're chickening out now? That's not allowed when the game just got interesting". Samson dragged out, the shadow cast on his face from the fire made him look menacing.
" I'd love to butโ"
"No buts. Play with me and I'll make sure you enjoy it while you hate it".
I opened my mouth to argue but no words came out. I looked at Sam but he was glaring at the floor. I unwillingly sat back down cleaning my already clammy palms on my jeans.
