Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven

And so it happened that Sam was perfectly alright before the ambulance arrived so it wasn't necessary for him to be taken to the hospital.

All thanks to that teacher's first aid approach. He kept on alternating between five back blows and five abdominal thrusts. In the space of a few seconds the item was dislodged and Sam was able to breathe properly again.

I tell you, there and then, I did a full bow for the life saver. Words were not enough to express my gratitude. I wanted to show how grateful I was and I couldn't think of any other thing to do.

How do you immediately thank someone who saved the life of your boyfriend and simultaneously saved you from becoming a murderer?

But that gratitude was replaced with something else when the teacher started badgering me with questions concerning Sam's choking.

Only innocent/guilty criminals would know how I felt right then.

Innocent because I did not have the intent to kill him. Guilty because I did almost kill him. Of course I did not tell him the real truth. That would be digging my own grave.

Today is one of the many days in my life I'd love to do away with but as my dad would say— "the things you want to forget are the things you should never forget".

As silly as that saying sounded (sorry dad) I wanted to apply it to this incident. As if I can actually forget it, I rolled my eyes at myself. I will hold on to this memory and try not to be stupidly mischievous again.

Sam on the other hand was having fun making me feel terrible, though earlier on, he had made it clear that he held nothing against me.

We were presently in his car going home.

"I had no idea apple is your favorite fruit". Sam sounded as casual as ever.

"It was but never again. I'll never touch that evil fruit again". I fiddled with my shirt.

Sam laughed. "Never say never babe. Women will forever be linked to apples".

"What do you mean?" I asked him, my brows coming together.

He went on. "I trust you know the popular Bible story of Adam and Eve?"

I nodded.

"You know Adam and Eve right?"

I remembered he couldn't have seen me nod, his eyes were fixed on the road so I spoke this time, "Yes of course, everyone knows them".

"Eve used the apple and made Adam sin against God. With that sin Adam died spiritually. Right or wrong?"

I was confused. "Uh... right?...I don't really know about the spiritual death thing".

"I'm right cuz I go to church sweetheart", he drawled.

I go to church too baby, I rolled my eyes. "Okay. So what?"

"So you, a woman–"

"Stop there, woman sounds too old. I'm still a girl please".

" You're a woman but that's not what I'm driving at. You, another female tried to kill me with another apple. The only difference is, the death would've been physical".

I groaned putting my head in my hands. " Really Sam!"

"What? I'm just saying".

"Don't say. Stop saying! It's not funny that I almost killed you. I made a mistake and I've apologized. It was very stupid of me to have done what I did especially when you were eating".

"Are you saying you'll do it again when I'm not eating"?

"No!"

Sam was not ready to stop, he was having too much fun. "Tell me, what were you trying to do?".

"Ughhh". I groaned again. "Don't.Ask.Me. I'm done". I bit out.

"I should write a book titled___"My Near Death Experience Because Of Alexandria Hamilton". Do you think it'll become a bestseller?"

"No". I said in all honesty. "The title is not catchy at all".

"Suggest a better title then". We reached my house and he parked the car.

"It should be___ I almost met the devil earlier than I was supposed to.

Sam looked at me and boomed, "Get out of my car!"

I doubled over in laughter. "It was a joke".

Sam was quiet he didn't say anything again.

I turned to look at him and a shiver went up my spine. He was trembling really hard. There's no fucking cold! Was this some kind of aftereffect of choking? I never heard of anything like this.

I felt his temperature, "Sam what is it?"

In a shaky voice he started, " Wh-what y-you just said is scaring the life out of me. Wi-will you share my bed just for tonight?"

What? I looked into his eyes carefully and saw what I did not see before. I slapped his lap with all the energy I had in me. "You idiot! Was it fun seeing me scared for your life?".

Sam roared in laughter. I eyed him in annoyance him feeling like pulling out those shiny white teeth of his. "It was a joke babe no need to get so worked up".

"What are you guys still doing in there?" Dad roared from the front porch.

We immediately got out. I went to dad and kissed his cheek. "Hey dad". He smiled at me and glared at Sam.

"Good evening Mr. Hamilton" Sam sounded so nervous that I laughed. It was the first time I was seeing him like that.

"Shut up". Dad ordered me. "What's tickling your fancy?"

"You're staying for dinner, I already spoke with your parents". Dad informed Sam.

I widened my eyes at my dad. Sam was equally surprised. "Why dad?"

Dad ignored me and continued talking to Sam. "You're now Alex's boyfriend's, this dinner will be different from the ones you've previously had with us".

"Thank you Sir. I'm glad you've accepted me". Sam smiled.

"Whoever said I accepted you?" Dad queried and a sweat broke out on Sam's forehead.

I laughed mentally. "Dad go easy on him please".

"Whether I accept you or not will depend on the outcome of the dinner".

"I'll do my best Sir".

"Come on in then".

We turned to go inside but Sam stopped us. " I have one question". I frowned at him wondering what he wants to ask.

"Let's hear it". Dad nodded at him.

He hesitated for a bit. "Would there be apples?"

Oh dear. " No Sam. Even if there are, I wouldn't dare eat any of it". He pretended to be alright but at that moment I knew he would forever hate apples, just like I would.

Dad frowned. "What was that?"

"Nothing". I took Sam's arm and led him inside leaving dad to stare after us.
