Chapter 17 - Advent

So I'm glad at the way things have been so far, Aden runs away and all that. But what next could have been expected? Lindsey was a demon.

"Take"

I looked up slightly into the face of a pretty little girl. A smile tugged at the corners of her petite red lips and I noticed the tip of her nose twitch slightly. She couldn't be more than six and I'd do anything to have a face so fair like hers. I looked down at the Apple she offered and gently took it, muttering a thank you.

"I'm sorry I couldn't bring much, Oscar was rushing and so wouldn't let me pack enough. I do hope it'll satisfy you though" She commented, pouting at the figure that loomed from behind. The assumed Oscar smiled at me as I bit into the apple, his hair a deeper shade of brown than mine. I blushed slightly at how attractive he was, with a pointy jaw and green eyes that shone like embers.

"I hope you don't mind, my little sister just loves giving out things" he explained, ruffling her blonde curls a bit. The girl swatted his arm petulantly and asked. "How did you get those bruises?"

For once I was tempted to lie.

"An accident" I said offhandedly like though I was an elite in the lieing profession. Not one of my best but still will do. Since birth, I'd always used logic to confuse and weave my way out, but this question of hers was unavoidable. Her brother dug a warning finger into her shoulder when I abruptly stood up.

"It was an accident"

Silence. The little angel walked forward and took my bruised wrist. Rubbing it gently, she bent slightly and kissed it. A warm feeling engulfed my stomach at this. "There now, feel any better?"

Much.

Her brother smiled. Yeah she's that adorable.

Withdrawing with her brother, I watched them walk down the street and disappear round the corner. I suddenly found myself wishing I had a younger sister like that to pamper and wrap like that. No doubt they were so close. The boy couldn't be much elder to me by four years. He looked twenty though.

8:45. The dammed streets of Forks was tersely quiet. Once or twice I'd spotted a police car head up the road towards me, I'd look for a shelter and hide wondering for just how long I'd be able to keep up with this. Thank goodness it wasn't fall yet. It was still March and summer was twelve days away. Rain didn't fall much these days making my ordeal pretty much easier. The pain from the beatings earlier had reduced considerably. It'd gotten better strongly with each step I'd taken and I'm pretty sure I'm farthest away from home right now.

Up above the sky was starless. Owls hooted from the thick foliage aligned at each side of the streets and one time, a wolf cried nearby. It was a windy night, coupled with the Owls hooting and eerie noises, I was shivering. Luckily Lindsey hadn't torn my clothes in any way, they were just caked in blood and dirt from sitting around. I crossed about five bakeries and two boutique shops, knowing fully well I was heading to the city's outskirts. I wondered just what was going on at home right now. Adrian was scheduled to come back today and with no one around, Tiberius would have a hard time adjusting to the chores. Good riddance. Lindsey must be bed bound by now, although what I did was fitting, I couldn't help feeling a little bad.

Human sympathy sucks.

"Hey bro, what's you doing?" a harsh voice stopped me midway from taking out my rosary

I froze as I turned and detected a boy, no a man. Averagely built in bulk with a hard bare chest which he proudly puffed out. His clothes were all stained and riled up, making him look dirty and he wore an artificial white earring at his left ear. I was shaking now, as the smoke from the cigarette he held between his red cracked lips swirled downwards and crashed into my face. I instantly went into a coughing fit and hearing him chuckle increased my fear to its peak.

"Hey Rider" he roared in buzz. His accent was a mixture of Forks and British. I peered red faced at the three hidden figures at the Bush across the road with shinning torches where he gestured to. They leaped out, similarly dressed like the one in front of me, staring me down with lit eyes. The assumed Rider walked ahead of the others and stopped when he nearly bumped into my face taking a full sweeping glance at me. He reeked of mud and dirt.

"He's a beauty " He affirmed, his Hazel eyes shone behind the ruddy mask he wore. I was terrified out of my wits now when he thrusted out a hand and took hold of my wrist now. I watched him sink his fingers into them delicately, screaming at the unimaginable pain.
