The day they were set to leave for the academy reached faster than expected. Early in the morning, there was a knock on Lexine's door. She and Quira, who seemed to have made Lexine's room her own, both turned to each other in surprise. None of them were able to sleep that night and thus they were already awake by the time that the door was knocked on.
Quira continued to make the bed as Lexine walked to open the door. Leilani stood outside. She was holding a red backpack in her hands. "Lexine. You're awake." She smiled up at her niece. Having lived with Lexine in the same house for a little over a month, she had gotten used to the fact that she had the same sleeping habits Adrianna did.
