After the two left for home, Lexine was left with Arkien. Her mother's scent still lingered on her nostrils. She almost did not want to say goodbye. But, it was not like her mother and best friend could just drop everything and stay with her. Even if they did, they would be immediately found out as humans.
Lexine sighed. "Thank you, but can they not come here anymore. I don't want anything to happen to my mother."
Arkien looked up at the human. "If that is what you desire."
Lexine did not stay much longer. She was almost late for Christana's duel. She gave a hasty bow to Arkien and left the room.
Arkien sat in his chair without moving for a few minutes. He had made some discoveries which he was sure the human would not like. One of the infiltrators had been caught trying to open an egress on one of the empty fields. However, it had failed and instead caused a large fluctuation in the energy signature in the air, making them get discovered.
