The next morning, Lexine was awoken by a knock on her bedroom door. Her body jolted awake, and in her haze of sleep, she slipped off of her sheets and fell to the floor with a loud thud.
She cussed as her eyes fluttered open, and she stared up at the ceiling for a while. Her bird's nest of hair fell over her eyes in little tangles. The person on the other side of the door knocked once more, this time the rapping sounded a little more urgent than it had before.
"A minute." Lexine managed to call out amidst her aching thighs and elbows.
She slowly sat up and took a minute to detangle herself from her sheets. Then, as if there was no one waiting at the door, she sauntered to the small bathroom attached to her room. It was only after brushing her teeth, and brushing her fingers through her hair, that Lexine opened the door. Standing outside was Taevlin.
