SUMMARY
'Loving and losing is better than never loving at all.'
They say our past defines who we truly are. We admire them from the present and learn. Unless for those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. But for some history is just a nightmare they are trying to wake up from.
Viviana Lee, a beautiful yet smart girl, not so innocent, not so experienced either. But she is successful in her own way; neither rich nor poor. She has a past like everyone else; dark enough to haunt her but not strong enough to upset her.
Rafael Sinclair, he's rich, he's handsome and with a good heart he never shows yet he's cold, arrogant and has long lost his heart to his own demons. More successful than anyone he ever knows; but satisfaction is not something in his dictionary. Women are his chess piece to play and he sets the rule of the game. He has a past he wants to unwind and make those who needs to repay for their past submit to him.
Both with one common resolve.
Love is something they don't have the luxury to believe in and lover is a far-fetched dream they do not see.
What will happen when their past intertwines. What happens when one drowns so much into the web of deceit and revenge that they themselves fail to hold onto what's valuable to them. This is a story of revenge and redemption; attraction and affection; love and loss. Doesn't every story get happy ending? But then again, isn't happy ever after just an ironic thing? 😌

PREVIEW:
I walk into the hallways striding toward the door I'm not even familiar with. My heart's beating too fast threatening to leap out of me. Surrounding me, there are many pairs of eyes falling me, some in curiosity, some confused or surprised and some understanding the my dire situation just like that.
I don't remember how I got here or how I know which way to turn. My head was still ringing since I got the news. I was running on auto pilot.
My mother fighting for her life and my father who is missing. The incidents told to me doesn't make sense to anyone let alone me. All in span of two days.
My mother, a 4 time race champion, got into an accident on an open road in a clear weather and no traffic?
And where did dad go? They said it's been above 24 hours since he went missing without any news or contact.
Who expects me to believe this is an ordinary case.
As I almost reach the door I've been searching for, a pair of hands stop me taking me attention immediately with the adorable yet strict clear voice.
"Rafy!" I turn to only person who'd call me with such adoration.
"Gran! Where's mom and how-" I immediately shoot to the beautiful pair of pale blue-green eyes like mine, although mine are much green than hers.
"She just got back from the surgery. She's in the ICU." She informed me as my mind calmed down but heart raged on.
"Gran, how is she?" I ask instantly.
"They did everything they could. She was in a remoted road, the medics were late. They're not sure if she'll be stable or not before 24 hours." She informed in a tired voice.
"And dad?" We both turned to a much stronger voice knowing exactly who it is.
"Still no idea. They haven't been able to reach him." She replied to my younger brother who seems much calmer than me despite being young.
"He can't just go missing, you know. Isn't it weird mom got into an accident the exact day dad gone missing?" His twin but not so lookalike spoke in an annoyed and rebellious voice. He has never known to understand atmosphere unfortunately.
"Leo, shut up. This is a hospital." His brother ordered as usual in a calm voice which I knew wouldn't work on his brother more than 5 minutes.
"Gran, tell me what exactly happened when we were gone? And where's Max?" I asked looking around for my youngest brother who was supposed to stick with mom like glue.
"After you three left for camp, Max started getting annoyed and agitated, so you mom allowed him to stay over at his friend's 2 days ago. He's still there." She informed me but started fidgeting.
"When was dad last home?" My question made her shoot a look at me which held worry and frustration.
"I don't know. The day before yesterday your parents had a major fight. Your dad left in fury and your mom decided to take a break and go check her on her business out of town. She got into the accident yesterday evening on her way back to meet someone and we haven't heard from your father since he left." She said clearly upset.
I'm familiar with them fighting but leaving home? There's never been one of that.
My mind is killing me to understand what really happened.
"Gran, sit down. You'll get sick like this." Luc calmly asked her holding her to sit by the benches.
"Leo, go and get her a coffee." He ordered his brother who obviously scowled but left anyway.
"Where's Ella?" I slowly asked sitting in front of her on the ground diverting our mind.
"Oh, no! She's probably at home by now. She wasn't home yesterday for her club tour. I should inform her." She said slowly pulling out her phone.
"I'll tell her, Gran. It's okay." I got up and pulled my phone.
"Luc, take care of her." Who gave me a nod as I left.
My little sister was much stronger than she seemed and much difficult to understand. But I knew she'd be better handling Gran than any of us boys. Once she gets here, I can leave them and ask what the hell's actually been going on.
Because as calm as I look, my heart and mind is killing me inside, slowly with fear.
In about half an hour, she came. Her perfectly trimmed hair seemed urgently put in a bun and all over the place and her once composed looks were reshuffled.
"How is she?" She said hold my arm.
When I realized I was out of my family's sight, I broke down finally letting my fear take control of me.
"I don't know, El. Mom, mom's never been in an accident like this. She's a racer, how can she even get hurt o bad while driving on a open road. She could've dodged it easily. I don't know what's going on. Dad's missing too." I let it all out sitting holding onto her for dear life.
"Hey, hey! Sush! She's fine. She's much stronger than any of us and she's double our age. Uncle's fine too. They got into a fight, right? Maybe he switched off his phone to get his mind off and doesn't know anything. It's fine." She tried to calm me down as I leaned onto her.
"Rafe, mom's doctors came out!" I heard by brother's voice while immediately got me into action running right behind him.
As I got close, I could hear him and my heart sank.
"Her condition isn't getting better, Mrs. Sinclair. She bled too much. We stopped her external bleeding but her internals are dysfunction. We're trying out best, trust me. Please keep calm." I heart him reassure her when his face said otherwise.
"Can I meet her?" I heard myself say as everyone's attention turned to me.
"Actually, she woke up few minutes ago and asked for someone named Rafe?" He asked and I immediately perked up.
"I'm Rafe, can I go in?" I asked with my feet already moving toward the direction.
"Please follow me." He said and I followed.
Walking in, my nose filled in the smell of antiseptics and sanitary. The room screamed of hygiene but it didn't reassure me with how clean it looked.
My ears filled in the slow beeping sounds of the many monitors in the room.
Then my mind stopped working when my eyes fell on her. She looked completely white and so small. That's not normal for her, she's not small. Being a proud 5.7 woman, she was better than a model. For her to look so weak was unbearable and unbelievable for me.
"Mum?" I slowly let out hoping I didn't disturb her rest.
She flinched a little but slowly opened her eyes turning toward me. I tried pulling up a smile but I'm not sure if I was successful.
"Hey, h-honey." Her attempt to speak made me want to tell her to stop with how painful her voice sounded.
"How are you feeling?" I asked her slowing coming close, trying to hide my fear within.
"Is being alive a-and fine a good a-answer?" She smiled weakly joking as I brighten my smile.
"It works for me, I guess." I replied letting out a laugh for her sake.
"D-Dad's still, m-missing huh?" She asked slowly fading away her smile which reassured me.
"How did -" I tried asking but her expression almost said she knew everything which made me scared even more. But I found my voice again.
"Yea, sorry mum." I replied wondering how she knew.
She closed her eyes and let out a sigh and I immediately flinched at her sudden winch in pain.
"Mum, you okay?" My voice cracked.
"I'm f-fine, you k-know, the usual p-pain." She smiled but I could see the hurt in them.
"Do you know where dad is mum?" I asked pulling up my last bits of courage which was about to be dropped.
She turned to me slowly and I saw the most saddest smile I've ever seen on her as she touched my hand replying.
"H-he's n-not there a-anymore, love-e. I'm s-orry-h!" She let out closing her eyes as I completely shut down.
What?
She doesn't seem to even flinch when she held onto me more knowingly, my brain was debating to turn on and react.
"He w-was attacked. I g-got a c-call and left in a h-hurry. I crashed by an incoming car when his voice got cut su-suddenly." Her eyes started getting glossy as I could see how it was getting hard for her.
"He g-got in-volved in a drug-cradle, mixed u-up with the wr-wromg people. I'm s-sorry, l-love." She said to me as I tried and failed to process her information.
"Is that what you fought with him about?" I asked slowly.
"No, I w-was upset. But, it w-was so-something else-e." She replied with an almost attempt of a frown.
I got more confused and tried to think what to ask exactly.
"What was it about then?" I heard myself.
"A w-oman." She let out and I could see the hurt in them.
My mind had always lost its control over its thoughts, I didn't know what to think and what to tell or ask.
"Will you p-promise me something?" She asked slowly as I immediately perked up.
My voice was gone, so I was just able to only nod.
"Take care of yourself, yo-your b-brothers and Ella. Don't get in-involved in b-bad things." She said slowly as I felt my eyes sting.
"Mum, you'll be fine. We'll be fine." My voice was so low even I couldn't hear myself clearly with my ringing head.
She probably caught on since she just smiled.
"Don't blame d-dad. Okay? He wasn't b-bad. Just-t the s-situation wa-was." She was starting to breath heavily as I instantly got worried.
"Mum, I should call the doctor. Your breathing abnormal." I replied getting up but she held on.
"Ask! A-ask them to let my c-children in. I n-need to t-talk with y-ou all more-e. O-okay?" She said holding my hand harder and I could feel the desperation in them.
I just nodded smiling back and immediately called the doctors who all jumped in action to make help her. My voice was lost somewhere as I failed to even say she's going to be okay.
Was it because I didn't believe she was okay or because I didn't believe in her, I don't know.
Till the moment I left, I felt her eyes on me. Smiling but there was no hope in them. My heart slowly sank as my eyes met my siblings which held the hope I'm about to shatter.
