Chapter 53 - Chapter 1 [Hope Anew] (Page 47)

River left Star's room behind and made his way to the totem and after doing a quick check to get his bearings he heads for the cafeteria. It took him a bit but after a minute or half he would arrive there as it seemed to be rather busy. There was a line for the food to be taken and tables were filled up with soldiers. It was rather diverse here with the amount of races all in a single place.

As for those that required a more 'unique' substance to sustain themselves such as mana stones and others would have a different line. The room was filled with different races that includes the well known ones like humans, elves, orcs, spirits. There even were undead, demons, demi-humans, hybrids and even some sentient monsters.

Regardless it seemed that there are humans that were still slightly distant and weary about the other races. Even if all the races were accepted into the army as long as they had talent there are others that do not like the presence of the other species. Although people like these were mostly humans who are unhappy that races like the beast folk, demons, undead and monsters were in the ranks. Regardless they could not do anything about it as this was by the decree of the king.

After the quick observation River made his way to join the back of the line and patiently waited until it was his turn. It took a while for him to finally reach the front of the queue where he received his food which was the same as the other troops. After exiting the queue he looked around to see if there was anyone he recognised or if there was an empty table.

With a quick scan he found out that Sora and Shadow was sitting at a table and decided to join them walking over to that table. Sora gave him a slight wave as she noticed him come over, he nodded as to return the gesture since his hands were full. River sat down at an empty chair at the table quickly glancing at what they had which was the same just with some slight differences in the choice of content. Although Sora had a smaller portion compared to the two of them she was seemingly fine with it.

Although the table seemed to be oddly quiet until he overheard the conversation topic of what was going on on a different table. It was mostly curiosity on who the heroes were, their classes, races and what they were doing now. After considering the atmosphere it was understandable that they were probably not meant to be here.

The three of them ate slowly and in silence until Shadow lightly gestured to a person who entered the room. It was an undead or to be exact a skeleton that was wearing armour, although it seemed to be more polished and better made compared to the regular troops. Hanging from their back was a silver cloak with gold gliding that reached to their knees.
