We followed her silently for a while glancing at each other before Ruby spoke up "I am Ruby, this is Emerald, Shadow, Nimbus, Sora, River, Grusk and Stargazer." she said pointing at each of us when she mentioned our names. As she spoke Betty would be looking at us nodding, presumably memorizing our looks and placing names to them.
"I see, also this is my first time seeing a human dragon hybrid, I thought there weren't any of you left here but apparently I was wrong" Betty mused to herself tapping her chin which was covered by her mask so the ringing sound of metal hitting porcelain could be heard. She pushed open a door towards the side of the room and stepped in "Here it is, also the existence of this construct is classified so only military personnel know of it, so do not tell anyone else of its existence."
She entered the room letting us in, watching us while speaking in a serious tone "The leaking of this information has the sentence of death towards the perpetrator and all who know of the information outside the military." Before us was an ancient construct made of gears, pistons and wires that were beyond sight as they were inside the rocks.
It had a seat and by the hands there was a semicircle made of metal which was filled with some gel and rings for each finger. The seat was lined with cushioning for comfort of the person sitting there. To the left was a screen which would supposedly display the users stats. To the right was what could be assumed to be a battery which emitted a low hum and an arcane blue light softly pulsating like a heart. It was shaped as an oversized cylinder and was surrounded by metal plates wrapping around the core. There were rectangular holes on the plates that let the light from inside shine through and also through the cracks between the metal plates.
"Looks more like some sort of oversized torture device with the set up and all" Star commented regarding the set up of the contraception as she seemed to be nervous about it.
"That line is not new to me, but despite the looks of it I can assure you it is not besides it would not even hurt. Many of the other recruits said the same thing but at the end they said it didn't even hurt a bit. Although I do agree it does look like some torture machine a first glance." Betty told Star as she walked ahead and up the steps to the seat.
"So who wants to go first… how about you, to prove that it is all fine?" Betty said pointing to Star "Come on now, it won't bite you the gel will just feel cold and gooey it won't be bad. I can give a demonstration if you want me to since I know you don't trust me." She gestured to the contraception.
Star took a deep breath before responding "No, I'll go. I'm sure it can't be that bad" she said as she made her way towards the contraception Betty nods and stepped back giving her space. She got onto the chair although due to her short height she came slightly short of the device.
"You can move forwards, it only requires you to place your hands into the gel and the rings." Betty said taking note of Star's short stature, she followed what Betty said and scooted more towards the edge of the seat. She then proceeded to place her hand into the gel shuddering as she does so and fits each of her fingers into the respective rings.
There was a soft rumbling and whirring as it activated a softly glowing pillar of light which surrounded the pedestal. Star squinted as she looked around, the gel would also start to glow blue, the large screen on the left emitted a click and turned on. It displayed unintelligible words which flickered a while before turning into words. It showed her name on the top along with her race and other things below it shows her abilities and skills, displaying her stats as numbers.
Her highest trait would be magic while her lowest is her offensive capabilities which was a given since she does not do much physical fighting. Her class would be as her stats suggest a wizard her best elemental attributes would be fire followed by shadow and wind. The difference between the attributes of fire and shadow were different by one as well. Considering that she was a demi dragon with the attributes of fire and shadow it was not surprising.
"It really is not as bad as it seems although this gel is plain cold" Star said looking over to Betty to see if can remove her hands, Betty nods and Star pulls her hands out of the gel and walks down. The screen went blank when she did that and Betty approached gesturing for her pendant.
"Its to mark your class on it for easier identification of classes" Betty explained holding up her pendant which shows a staff crossed with a spear. "My class is a battle mage as shown here for easier identification as well" she explains, Star nodded and handed her the pendant Betty muttered a spell and waved her fingers over its surface. A pink glow emanates from her fingers as she does so while a magic staff appears on the surface of the pendant. Betty hands it back to Star who takes it with a nod and goes back to the rest of us, it seemed that Emerald wanted to go next as she walked up to the machine.
She sat down on the seat and placed her hands into the gel shuddering as she does so. The same thing happens with her when the machine was examining Star with the glow effect and display of the ranger class. It one which allows the person to be able to set traps easier and have an easier time in taming companions. Although the beast tamer class will have a much easier time as the rangers are specialised in setting up traps. In addition to that they have enhanced agility and speed as to aid in traversing harsh terrain.
