"Quelly, meet Dylan. He's just new here in the neighborhood, we have physics together." Jannah said as she took a sip of her eighteen-year-old-friendly alcoholic beverage. She just turned eighteen today so I think she's taking advantage of legally drinking alcohol for the first time. Not like we've done it illegally. Dylan is extremely tall, and is wearing a plain white shirt with dark washed jeans and some sneakers.
"Nice meeting you." I'm not gonna lie, Dylan has one of the prettiest smile I've ever seen. His teeth are so perfectly placed and very white, I think I can use it as a mirror. His voice has just the right amount of depth, not intimidating like the other guys.
"Quelly. Wow! Your height is amazing." I said looking like a homeschooled kid seeing a tall guy for the first time. Did I mention that Dylan is extremely tall? and I can't hide how amazed I am by his height. He's also smoking hot by the way.
"I get that a lot, hope you're not intimidated by it." Dylan is so not awkward to talk to. He radiates this positive vibe that makes you feel comfortable around him. And I'm here, looking at him in awe, in loss of words. Didn't I mention I have a thing for tall guys in a white shirt?
I'm pretty sure Jannah started a conversation with Dylan to cover up my obvious crush-on-first-sight on him. They started talking about school and other things I don't understand because I don't go to the same university as them. I'm also pretty sure that I have been staring at him for the last five minutes. Get it together Quelly, it's just another human being.
I turned my head and started to observe my surroundings, instead of looking at Dylan like an idiot. We're already halfway through the party, and the people are starting to get drunk and wild. And when I say wild, I mean VERY wild. The table that was once filled with delicious food are now used as a stage for the dancing strippers. I was kidding. Jannah wouldn't have strippers at her party, her mom would kill her if she did. Those were the same people from earlier, just a little more drunk than they should be. The place isn't trashed like in the movies. It's a little messy, but still decent looking. Remember the drunk horny couples I absolutely despise? Well, there sure are a couple of them on this living room. Good thing Jannah is busy talking with Dylan, she won't have to see these parasites sucking on each other.
The notification sound from Jannah's phone caught my attention. I saw her face light up as she read the message, guess her mom arrived.
"I have to go and fetch mom outside. Why don't you and Quells help yourself for more drinks on the kitchen?" Jannah said to Dylan and walked away. She turned her back and winked at me when Dylan wasn't looking anymore. That's the wink of encouragement right there.
"I'll fetch you a drink, what do you want?" you.
"Uh, maybe just a cup of Cola this time." I drank enough alcoholic beverages today. I don't know what'll happen to me if I drink some more.
"Okay, wait here." Dylan said as he made his way to the kitchen. The way he walks is also perfect, all his movements are in slowmo in my eyes. God, he's such a gentleman, I love him so much.
As Dylan is at the kitchen, the alcohol is starting to make way into my system. I start to get a little dizzy so I decided to sit on one of the many beanbags near the large window on this living room. I looked at the clock and it's just past 10. Still have lots of time for my sweet pumpkin pie Dylan who is now coming back from the kitchen with our drinks.
"Cola for the lady." Dylan said, with his incredibly beautiful smile plastered on his face as he handed me my cola. He's literally my dream man in the flesh.
"Why thank you, monsieur." I said with the most disgusting trying hard flirty voice I've ever done in my life as I take it from his hand, too bad I didn't get to touch it though. He just laughed at my response. Do you think this is a joke? My feelings for you isn't a joke honeybunch! Come here and kiss me!
"I like abstract paintings, you know. Specially this one. I couldn't tell if it's an alligator or a crocodile though, I don't know the difference between those two." Dylan said while looking at the large abstract painting on the wall adjacent to the beanbag we're sitting. The love of my life just started a conversation with me, I think I just peed a little.
"Do you know what's the difference between an alligator and a crocodile?" Dylan turned his head at me, with a curious expression. If I could just take you home, I would.
"One will see you later, the other a little while." His face went from curious, to blank, and then he laughed out loud. While me? I went through the seven stages of grief the whole time he was laughing. Why? Why are you saying dumb things to your future husband, Quelly?
"I didn't expect you to have a sense of humor, I thought you were boring like a stick." Dylan said after laughing. His laugh is like music to my ears, I want to have a copy of it on my phone so I can listen to it anytime.
I think it's the alcohol, or it's just the universe wanting me to embarrass myself in front of this beautiful man. I suddenly had the courage to ask him about his relationship status. If not now, then when?
"So... Do you have a girlfriend?"
That question definitely caught him off guard. Please say no, please say no and ask me to be your girlfriend.
"Oh, about that... I actually have a boyfriend." Dylan said. I can see the sympathy on his beautiful face, maybe because he just saw how he broke my already broken heart.
What he said slapped me in the face and brought me back to reality. I should've asked that question earlier.
"Oh, really? Nice" Is the only thing I can say. God I am so embarrassed. I even tried to flirt with him! I am such a disgrace! I should be banished! Decapitated! Burned to dea--
"Hey, have you heard what happened to Italy? You see, I have a friend that took a vacation there, and now he is struggling to come home." Dylan said, obviously trying to change the topic. But I am not done mourning the fact that he is taken yet.
"Really? What happened to him?" I said, trying my best to sound enthusiastic and perfectly fine, despite my broken heart.
"There's this virus, that said to be killing thousands of people. Their government haven't said anything yet, but they put them on complete lockdown. No one's allowed to go in and out the country. My friend is scared that their supposed to be vacation would turn into an apocalyptic nightmare. Rumors say that the virus is now spreading all over the world but-" I tried to look focused the whole time he's talking. I'm pretty sure he said a lot more than that but my brain decided to ignore it. I am busy looking at his face, like this is the last time I'm going to see the love of my life. Technically, it is.
