Chapter 8 - Let Me Love You

Aila was furious at what Ken said

"Wedding? Really? Geez… You're so full of yourself! How can you even think of such?"

No one has ever dared what Ken has done and said to Aila, in normal circumstances it would mean his death.

"Well, okay, let's just set this as the date for our anniversary, if you find the wedding date a bit too fast"

Aila's jaw dropped in disbelief with Ken's confidence. Ken laughed at Aila's reaction she really seemed so innocent. She looked out the window of the Ferris wheel because she was so annoyed by Ken.

Ken tapped Aila's shoulder, and gently told her…

"This is for you, we don't have wedding rings yet, so I'll give you this bracelet instead"

Ken placed the bracelet on Aila's wrist.

She was surprised at ken's actions; she instantly felt repulsion on Ken's arrogance. She took the bracelet off her wrist. Aila's rejection is a first for Ken, he never expected for such a thing to happen.

"I will pursue you Aila, when you're ready to accept me please wear the bracelet," Ken whispered to Aila with a low voice.

"I'm not accepting suitors" Aila immediately rejected Ken's advances.

"I know, and I am not asking for your permission... I'm just letting you know, so please don't get surprised..." Ken stubbornly answered.

"Please don't expect anything from me Ken, believe me; you're just wasting your time." Aila rejected him once again, but still, Ken was determined.

"Just let me love you, I'm not expecting anything in return." Ken's face looks a little down as he was somehow trying to analyze Aila's feelings for him.

In just a few seconds the Ferris wheel ride ended. Aila felt so thankful that the ride had stopped already; she immediately stood up and went to the exit.

"I'm going home."Aila had left without even looking back at Ken.

He followed her and tried to walk with her.

"I'll take you home," he offered Aila.

"No thanks, my father might chase you away with a sword" Aila uttered a weird excuse.

"Why? How come you let Vince take you home? Are you discriminating against me?" Ken asked with a disgusted tone.

"It's different with Vince, there's nothing going on between us," Aila said without thinking it thoroughly.

"Great!" Ken shouted with happiness. "What do you mean great?" Aila asked him.

"I'm just happy, that you think there is something going on between us." Ken confidently explained it to Aila.

"Whatever Ken."

She raised both her hands as a sign of surrender.

Vince saw Aila and Ken walking side by side, the jealousy he's feeling is undeniable. He felt like his heart is being crushed, but he gathered up all his strength to go to Aila.

"Aila, I'll bring you to your house, it's too late for a commute."

Aila felt relieved to get away from Ken, she smiled and immediately accepted Vince's offer.

"Sure, Vince, thank you."

Ken did not mind, because he knows that Vince will actually take good care of Aila. Ken opened Vince's car door for Aila, he then went to the driver's side and knocked on the window.

"Bro, drive carefully, you're in charge of Ai ko"

Vince nodded, even though he does not like how Ken implies his possession of Aila.

Aila remembered the incident with Ken earlier, her mood instantly turned sour. She placed the bracelet Ken gave her in her bag.

Vince noticed what Aila did, it hurts his pride seeing the bracelet he personally picked for her was given to her by another man.

"Did Ken gave that to you?" he pointed at the bracelet.

Aila nodded and looked outside the car. Vince curiously asked,

"Why aren't you wearing it?"

Aila is the type of person who does not really like wearing jewelry or accessories of any sort, she finds it very uncomfortable. The only exemption is when her mom would ask her to wear one for their family gatherings or when her stylist would ask her for photoshoots.

"I'm not into things like that," Aila answered short but direct.

Vince felt relieved after hearing Aila's answer because it was Ken who received this kind of rejection from her.

"Is he chasing after you?" Vince frankly asked Aila.

"That's what he said..." Aila sighed in frustration.

Vince parked his car in front of Aila's home, and as a true gentleman, he waited for Aila's mom to come out and greet her. At least he thinks this is Aila's home and that's her mom, it is still a courteous thing to do even if it is not actually her home and definitely not her mom.

While waiting, Vince could not help but ask Aila.

"I thought you said you won't let anyone court you? Why did you allow Ken?"

"I said I won't allow it, yes, that's still true" Aila made sure to clear misunderstanding with Vince.

"Did you turn him down?"

"Yes, I rejected him a couple of times today actually… But then, even though I repeatedly turned him down, he said he doesn't mind and he does not need my permission."

"What are you planning to do?"

"I'll just let him be, it's not like he'll get anything from me. I'm sure he'll easily get tired of chasing me."

When they arrived, she thanked Vince for the ride and went inside the house; after Vince left she was then chauffeured to her real home .

It was already half-past nine when Aila finished freshening up for bed. She thought of Reese, how she left her without a word earlier.

"Heck, I bet she's upset with me, I am not really good with keeping friends."

Aila thought of calling Reese to check on her.

"Hi, are you home? I'm sorry I bailed out earlier." Reese chuckled,

"Why do you sound so upset?" she replied with a question rather than answering Aila directly.

"Well, I was just sorry that I left you without a word," Aila answered with a sad tone.

"Hey, cheer up, I completely understand; I was actually about to advise you to go and hide, so you don't have to worry about it." Reese consoled Aila.

"Is this how friendship works? I'm glad you're my friend."

Aila felt relieved with Reese's explanation. Reese noticed how Aila is clueless when it comes to personal relationships, she finds it weird, but nevertheless she accepts Aila for the way she is.

"Hahaha… silly! Of course, that's what friends are for, we don't dwell on trivial things, instead, we always help each other the way we can! Is that clear? Now go ahead and sleep now princess, goodnight!"
