Chapter 4 - Diagon Alley

A/N : Once again, HP AND TR DO NOT BELONG TO MEH, THEY GO TO JK ROWLING! Anyways, enjoy!

Melody and Tom decided to go to Diagon Alley the next day in the afternoon. Which is exactly where they were heading at noon that day. Melody practically forced Tom to come, since she didn't have the brick combination memorized. STILL.

"You've really got to memorize the brick combination sooner or later," Tom sighed once they got to Charing Cross Road. Melody shrugged. "Maybe..? Oh look, there it is!" Melody went to the door of the Leaky Cauldron. And then, much to to confusion of the other Muggles, Melody and Tom disappeared between the two buildings.

Then after Tom tapped the bricks in the correct order, the two went in and parted ways to get their own supplies.

Truth be told, they always did their shopping alone to prevent awkwardness. Because Melody always went to Gringotts to withdraw money and since Tom was on the Hogwarts Orphan Fund...

Yet at least, that was one reason that Melody was aware of. You see, Tom always went to Knockturn Alley. The Alley below Diagon Alley. Knockturn Alley was very dark looking and had Dark shops. In Melody's opinion, if you wanted something done without anyone knowing, that was the place, although she'd never been down there. Tom never told Melody of his secret trips because she would literally lose it. Tom rolled his eyes at the thought.

Whatever, it's not like it's any of her business...

Tom's favourite shop in Knockturn was Borgin and Burke's. The shop sold all sorts of illegal artifacts and interesting books on the Dark Arts. Books which Tom would never be able to afford unless he got a job. Books which Melody could probably buy one and to her it would be like buying an ice cream. Books which Melody would never actually buy.

Tom was already quite friendly with Borgin, the owner, who said that Tom would be a perfect assistant after he graduated. Imagine if Melody were to hear, she'd lose it. Again.

Honestly, Melody understood almost everyone, had way too much empathy, friends with literally everyone she meets, but she doesn't understand Tom.

Although Tom didn't want any friends, he just wished Melody understood his love for the Dark Arts, that way she'd stop pestering him to quit them. It got pretty annoying that way. Fast.

He was also annoyed that Melody was also acquaintances with Alphard and Abraxas. But he had to deal with it. It wasn't like she was always around with them or Dorea and Cedrella. Okay, well, she was a little more friend-like towards Dorea and Cedrella, since they weren't snobby like Cygnus Lestrange was. Tom was seriously wondering what Lestrange's definition of 'manners' was. That was the only thing Melody and Tom both agreed on; Cygnus Lestrange was annoying.

Melody had just left the Magical Menagerie with a new white fluffy cat. It was a she, and Melody decided to name her 'Clouds.'

Melody had already finished all her shopping, so she went to get some ice cream while waiting for Tom.

'Where is that guy?'

She began to get a little impatient and worried after she finished her ice cream. Tom still hadn't returned.

CRACK!

POP!

CRACK!

CRACK!

POP!

A dozen people suddenly Apparated by Ollivanders. Sensing danger, Melody whipped out her wand, shrank all her items and put them into her jacket pocket and began to fire spells at the intruders. She wasn't completely clueless. They were Grindelwald's followers.

Then a whole mass of spells began flying everywhere, and many people were panicking and screaming. Melody wanted to shout at the top of her voice,"ARE YOU WIZARDS OR NOT?! USE YOUR FLIPPING WANDS!!" But at the moment, she didn't have time as she had to dodge, block, and defend herself. All at once.

Tom smirked at the sound of all the screaming above in the Alley. Borgin was muttering something about not thinking. In Tom's opinion, he really didn't understand why everyone was panicking. They had a wand. There was an exit. Use them. Literally.

Then he remembered that Melody's was still up in Diagon Alley (Tom finished all his shopping, his things were shrunken and safely hidden in his pockets).

Whoops.. he thought, though it was only half-genuine. Biding Borgin farewell, Tom cast a powerful shield charm around himself and went up into Diagon Alley.

And god was it chaos.

How in the name of Merlin was he supposed to find Melody in this?

Simple.

He would look for her magical signature.

But once he actually tried, it was everywhere. So in that case, Tom just went and looked while lazily flicking away hexes and curses. Looking at the situation logically, Melody wasn't stupid enough to be inside any of the shops, so Tom just looked outside each shop then continued said process until he heard her familiar voice.

"TOM?!"

Yep.

"GET TO THE EXIT!" He called out, running towards the brick wall. However, Melody was already there.

"I told you that you were going to need to memorize the brick combination," Tom drawled while tapping the bricks in the correct order as Melody kept watch. Many anxious parents ran over so that they could leave. Melody didn't respond to Tom's statement. Because really, now wasn't the time to be arguing.

Once the archway formed, dozens of people went through including Tom and Melody. Quickly healing and fixing the tears in her sleeve and knee part of her pants while Tom treated his own minor rips, they both ran out of the Leaky Cauldron.

The Muggles watching would've never guessed they were just in a battle. Melody went back inside the LC to un-shrink her items so it wouldn't look suspicious to any watching Muggles. Tom did the same. Then they walked back to Wool's Orphanage. Melody hoped they weren't too long. Mrs Cole's lectures weren't exactly scary, but quite annoying as Mrs Cole made them as long as possible.

And boy were they both in for a lecture when they got back.

A/N : Hello, once again, HP and the character TR (Tom Riddle) and Mrs Cole and Wool's Orphanage is absolutely NOT my invention. Thank you JK Rowling for giving fans a right to play around with your story line! :P
