Chapter 12 - Chapter 3.2

It took over forty minutes before I convinced Thalia that we should go back, "fine," she grumbled. And we returned to the third floor on the second building on the right. We stopped outside the classroom door, I could only see half the room through the narrow window, but there must have been thirty or more people in there. "Nervous?" she asked, grinning.

Is she teasing me? I thought to myself, but my heart was beating quite fast, and I couldn't put my finger on why. And then before I could blink, she'd swung the door open, and we were standing there at the front of a room filled with people. The human adult as the front stopped midsentence, and there was a tense moment where no-one said anything and silence filled the room.

"Miss, this is Shion, he moved to my town the other week and he's starting school here today." She stated abruptly, with no further explanation.

"So that's where you'd wondered off to." The women sighed, "I swear, you never fail to amaze me with the things you manage to come p with." She peered round her, and I feel everyone's eyes on me. "I haven't heard anything from the office."

"I didn't just pull hm off the street miss just so I could get out of class." She answered sarcastically.

"To be honest Thalia, at this point, it wouldn't surprise me." She answered despairingly.

"Hello my name is Shion liberson. It's nice to meet you." I introduced myself to her.

She blinked a couple of times, staring at me with a surprised look on her face.

"Did I say something wrong?" I whispered to Thalia.

She chuckled, "no, its just that no-one has ever been that polite."

"I'll speak to administration at lunch, but for now both take your seats. It wont do any harm, I suppose." She says, marking it down on the book on her desk.

"Hey Thalia, where've you been hiding that cuety?" a girl sneered. And a couple of laughs rang out.

"Cutey?" I muttered.

"Why Diana, you jealous?" she smirked, and pulled me by the arm to the back of the class where two desks were left vacant.

"These people confuse me." I muttered to her.

"Don't worry about it, they confuse themselves." She answers.

"Settle down now, or I'll have you do a thousand-word essay for tomorrow. And I'll be choosing the topic. Turn to page forty six of WQ books." She instructed.

Thalia had been sitting for less than a minute, before she adruptly stood, and made her way to the front without saying a word.

"Thalia, where are you going now?" the teacher asked.

"Shion doesn't have any books. I was going to get him a spare one." She argues.

"Seriously? Are you allergic to my lessons or something? Sit. I will go and get a spare book from the storeroom. And I don't want any messing about while I'm gone." As leave the room, the quiet dissipates into chaos. Suddenly every pair of eyes turn in our direction, people are twisted in their seats and I'm bombarded with questions.

"Where did you come form?"

"Where did you used to go to school?"

"Why did move out here?"

"Did you live in the city?" a city yes, but I don't think it's the one your talking about.

"Shion, that's an unusal name, what does it mean?"

"Is Thalia your girlfriend?"

I the end, I don't think I answered any of their questions by the time the teacher returned. I stared at the wall of noise, overwhelmed and unable to answer any of them. This wasn't what I was expecting at all. Humans were so full of energy and life.

"Don't worry its not you, we don't get new people at our school. Like ever. We've all been in the same class since we were eight but they should settle down."

"When will that be?"

She shrugs, "when they know everything about you I guess." She winked.

Before I could stop myself, I let a light laugh escape from my throat. I shut my mouth abruptly, surprised at my own display of emotion.

"Chill Shion. Next class is maths, its your time to shine."

"You hate maths, why do you look so happy?" I asked her.

"'cause now I've got you to copy from." She giggled.
