They headed home quickly that day. Spent their afternoon snuggled up in a chair. Chrysalis's hands running gently through Aris hair. Nim huddled at the foot of the couch.
And when night came the stars shone bright. Balls of fire and gas millions of miles away. The moon glistened in the night sky. And, it led to Ari leading Chrysalis outside. Her grabbing the goddesses waist and leading the two in a slow waltz.
No music played. It didn't need two. The two followed the music of passion. The music of love. The music of their souls growing ever closer together. The music of their lives. It was slow and full of care. Simple and short counts of one two three four, one two three four. Steps and spins as the two danced together through the night until their feet ached and the crickets ceased their chirping.
Chrysalis carried Ari inside and to their room. She laid the woman down on the bed and fell in place next to her, pressing a soft kiss to Aris forehead. The two fitting together like puzzle pieces as Ari shifted to her side and Chrysalis wrapped her arms around her lover and listened as Aris breaths became soft, echoing quiet dreams that wouldn't be remembered in the morning.
And when the sun rose in the morning, Chrysalis pushed hair out of Aris face and kissed her like she did hours before. She watched as her lover stirred and slowly began to wake up.
"Morning sweetheart." Ari greeted. Her voice laced with sleep. Its tone was quiet and slightly raspy and dear god did Chrysalis love the sound of it. It reminded her of long nights and hushed voices. Laughter ringing through the night until vocal cords cod no longer handle working properly.
"Good morning hun." Chrysalis returned. "Did you sleep well?" She asked.
Ari nodded. "Wonderful as always." She said as she finally turned away from the goddess. She pushed herself up onto her elbows and looked outside. It wasn't snowing this morning but piles of the frozen water crystals covered the landscape.
Chrysalis emerged from the bed, standing and stretching and humming constantly at the pops that came from her bodies joints.
Ari soon followed, shifting around the room as she gathered a change of clothes for the day. Grabbing a pair of warm jean's and a cozy sweater before yanking them on.
She and her goddess then left the room. Both of them patting the eager for attention wolf that padded over to them. Ari decided that she didn't feel hungry that morning and resorted to only feeding Nim.
And after a while, Chrysalis stood up from her place where both sat on the couch. It was time for her to go about her duties.
Ari stood and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek. "Have fun out there." She said.
Chrysalis nodded. "I will. I'll be home before you know it." She said before leaving.
Ari spent her day going back out inside and gathering firewood. Though she was careful of where she walked and paused often to make sure that her brain wouldn't creep up on her like it did the previous day.
And she returned home with a hefty load of wood. Placing it in it's small holder and lighting a few logs in the fireplace. She smiled as the house filled up with warmth and as Nim padded over, curling up in front of the fire and basking in the warmth it provided.
And not to long after, Chrysalis returned. She looked tired as she held a small amount of offerings and slowly put them all away.
The goddess sunk into the couch and felt as her beloved wrapped her arms around her.
"Is there something wrong Chrys?" Ari asked, concerned at the change in nature compared the how Chrysalis normally presented herself.
And Chrysalis shook her head as she nuzzled her body against Aris.
"Nothing to worry about Ari. I'm sure its nothing." She said.
But, they would soon find out in the coming weeks that it wasn't "nothing".
