After exiting the customs office, Gregory was directed towards a small area with a number of plush chairs, a few payphones, and various pictures of different boats and seacraft. A few individuals scattered them selves about the room, mostly looking at watches or the large clock on the wall, presumably family or friends waiting for their loved ones to finish clearing customs.
The customs officer that Gregory had talked to told him to stay in that area and wait for the government liaison to retrieve him. Gregory was about to settle into one of the plush chairs when he noticed a small glass-walled gift shop which took up one corner of the room, His hand went to his pocket, mostly to confirm that he was near out of tobacco, but his fingertips brushed the small statue again.
Dr. Marshall was still with the customs officers and Gregory had been told that the liaison had been staying at a nearby hotel some distance away, so he figured he had a few minutes to himself to examine the statue. Hopefully he would also get a chance to visit the shop and refill on... essential supplies.
His first stop was the men's restroom. Entering a stall and locking it behind him. He sat down on the toilet and removed the jade figurine from his coat.
He only had a few moments to look at it briefly following his encounter with the knife-wielding voice earlier that morning. He had managed to make out the inscription "Sam.Well" on the flat bottom of the figurine, when he had heard a young couple approach. He slipped the figurine into his pocket with his tobacco and made his way past the couple in the opposite direction as they rounded the corner.
The piece had stayed in his pocket until now. He pulled the figurine loose and looked at it frowning. A few loose bits of tobacco that had littered the interior of that pocket now stock to the jade. He did his best to wipe it clean before holding it up to the light.
The cat sat on it's back haunches and had two skinny leg on the front. Two pointy ears sat atop of its head and it wore a wide, gem-encrusted collar.
"Looks Egyptian," he thought.
He looked at the bottom of the figure again. "Sam.Well" Was he supposed to look for a Samuel? Or a Sam with the last name of Well? He decided he would have a better idea of the target once he had entered the enclave.
Before exiting the stall, he grabbed some of the toilet paper from the roll and gently wrapped the figurine. He briefly thought of throwing it away, ridding himself of whatever mess he was caught up in, but he had to take the risk to his family. He instead carefully placed in into a breast pocket on the inside of his coat.
As he exited the washroom, he saw Dr. Marshall looking around the waiting area. Gregory gave a friendly wave and approached the other Traveler.
"Though you might have gotten caught up in customers," the doctor said when Gregory drew near. "I was a little surprised not to see you here since you went in before me."
"Gotta take care of business ya know," Gregory shrugged.
The Doctor nodded. "I believe we have a little time here," he said.
"Yeah that's the impression that I got," Gregory said. He then motioned to the small gift shop, "Care to join me for a re-stock?"
"I sure would," said the Doctor.
