The hustle and bustle of students moving along the hall, the genitors sweeping down the stairs, groups of friends and their jovial laughter, warm smell of coffee brewing in the University cafe..another smell hidden underneath.. hmmmm the skies are rumbling, like any moment they'll give away and shower down the earth from the heavenly fountains...
our first rain in Shinjuku.
I curl up inside myself, taking a seat on our "regular" table. It's only been a week since we're here and yet the idiots already claimed their territory. Well I'm also one of them so not like I'm one to talk.
I close my eyes and try to relax, I hardly got much sleep since we hanged out in Sasaki and Kai's dorm room last night, we all kinda snuck in and slept the night. But 5 boys in one room, you can imagine how great of a sleep that was. Trying to get some sleep in I was drifting out pleasantly but... SLAM!
"Can you believe that jerk?! We only started a week ago and now they say I have to compete to get in the official soccer team, like hell I'll give you a piece of my --!"
And here goes my sleep. Hah, who am I kidding I love his babbling.
"So? Are you gonna back down, you're the supposed star of our hometown and a uni competition has you running with your tail tucked, brave much?" I said smirking.
"Who the hell are you calling a coward, brat!" yelled Haruto.
"Well I didn't, you did " was my cheeky reply.
"Come here, I'll show you who's a coward! And watch me! I'm gonna get in and blow the records of the chart!! yelling Haruto caught me in a chokehold.
" Get a room you lovebirds! " said Ryouta sitting down with Yuki.
"More like newly-weds" said Sasaki, and Kai winked in agreement.
We've always been like this. Me and Haru. Always the best of friends yet we use more curses and insults then enemies do. We never do emotional talk but can understand each other by just making eye contact. We never encourage with words but with challenges.
That's how we've always been. Maybe more so when it comes to me, scared that compassion and kind words may give my real feelings away.
"So it's on the day after the weekend, you guys gotta come" Haruto said sipping on his protein shake.
I made a disgusted face at his choice of drink and started saying something when -
"You gonna introduce us to the cheer Captain? oh or should I say your gf?" Kai said with a foxy smile.
"Oh turn down that imagination of yours, She's just a friend. She's not my gf or well..not yet " Haruto said making a sheepish face.
" I'm not gonna make it, sorry. " I suddenly stood up hanging my bag on my back.
"Huh, what why?" Haruto said trying to make eye contact.
"Some of us have work to do idiot. My shift in the cafeteria starts that day, remember? " Though I knew that that's not the reason, it started in the evening actually but he doesn't need to know that.
" So what? Skip----- Oh Hello, Kuri-chan, yeah I'm here" Haruto received the call halfway and tried to finish the sentence waving at me at the same time.
I just mouthed 'Baka' and said bye to everyone.
Knowing if I stay any longer I might just spill my anger. Walking down the halls towards the gates, I was distracted. So, I only knew it was raining when I was half soaked under it. Looking up at the sky, I felt jealous of it. Being able to let out its burden in cold tears, with everyone being soaked in it. I wish I could too. I sighed and started walking again.
It smelt of fresh grass and wet earth, it smelt of rain...
