I stood stoically watching while the doctors tried to revive the man named Peter Trellis. The heart monitor had already sounded the death line for his heartbeat.
I remembered this scene as if it only happened yesterday. After meeting Nathan's girlfriend, I was called to assist in an emergency operation. The doctor in charge tried his best but in the end, the patient had given up and died. I was left to stare at his lifeless eyes which led me to reminisce that day. The day peter Trellis had died.
I had known from the start that it was futile to try and save him. The moment he had entered the emergency room and I had recognized him, I knew that it was too late.
But of course, I cannot disclose that to the doctors or the rest of the team who had tried to revive him. I cannot tell them that they were only wasting their time and that it was hopeless. I cannot tell them that lest I get accused of working hand in hand with the culprit.
