When the ceremony was coming to its end, I looked away, distracting myself to look somewhere so as not to witness the kiss that will seal Hero and Mary's vows to each other.
I could not bear to be reminded that only a year ago, it had been me and Rafael who was in Hero and Mary Earle's shoes. It was too much. The flood of memories was too much.
Despite Vincent's reassuring words, I can not help but feel alone. The battle of emotions raging inside of me upon learning that Rafael was possibly alive was something none of them could help me with. This was a battle, I need to face on my own. This was a battle only I could conquer and overcome. This was a battle I was uncertain if I could win.
Sighing, I silently hoped that a server was just going to drop a drink on the table instead of waiting to be called over.
