HERO
"What I really am, Hero, is something that I am not proud of." Avalyn's voice echoed inside Hero's head as memories of her flashed before his eyes.
"So don't get too attached to me," she went on, pausing to take a deep breath as she locked eyes with him. "Or it can get dangerous."
Hero slowly opened his eyes. The memory was from the day after he had come to know of Avalyn's identity. It was when he finally understood why she had seemed so aloof and secretive. It was when he learned why there was something different about her.
Squinting, the first thing that Hero noticed was the warm heat from the sun, his skin tingling at the touch of warmth that was not merely a product of some machine that was trying to mimic the sun's rays.
