Candle wax splatters to the floor next to where I crouch low on the ground. I am pretending to look at something at the back of the shelf behind a pile of rice sacks, but really I'm inching closer and closer to the left where the shelf of sealed boxes sit. Karlie is behind me, absentmindedly listing off all the products that she's counted, though I know she's just listing any pantry ingredients to come to mind. We haven't actually done much inventorying since we traded places with the three girls.
