Nora Bennett had a way of knowing when her friend-of-ten-years and recently-made-colleague was lying to her, there was a tell that she couldn't quite put her finger on. She'd often tried making a list in her head of the things her friend did differently when the feeling emerged, just to find out what it was exactly, but to this day she'd never figured it out.
She regarded her friend now as they sat lazily on her green Ikea couch, binge-watching on a silly reality show of some attractive people on an island. They both had thought it rather ridiculous how the show had gotten so popular over the years—even their friends at the office had recommended it to them (hence why they started watching it in the first place)—but now they couldn't seem to turn it off. After the first episode, they were totally hooked! At least, Nora was, she wasn't sure about her friend, who had had her nose stuck to her phone screen for the last half hour or so.
