The constant beeping of machinery echoed in the dead quiet room as I slowly wake up from the dark abyss. Unmoving, my mind reeling with dread as I relived the horror of what had just happened to me. My car, the strong jolt of it as it flew over a low ramp on the side of the freeway; my seatbelt the only thing holding me to my seat; the feeling of freefall as the scenery outside the windshield tilted down from clear night sky to a line of treetop; how lonely it felt in the car.
