'John The Awesome' was the first to speak up. "I could show you around, miss…?" He was grinning from ear to ear as he said this. I smiled at him, but didn't say anything back.
Andrew glanced at John with an annoyed look on his face, then turned to me. "I know it may seem like nothing is making any sense, but if you give me a chance to explain, it might not be as bad as you think."
"How do you know what I'm thinking?" The words flew out of my mouth before I could stop them, this was why I should think before I spoke. My sudden impulse at talking back would not help me in situations where my life could be threatened at any moment.
None of the boys seem to be affected by my hostility, though, because I was rewarded with surprised faces from John and Andrew. Lex, on the other hand, still looked as bored as ever. Apparently our conversation hadn't peaked his interest.
