I hurriedly made my way to the bathroom to get ready for the day. There wasn't really much left to do. I had basically missed most of my appointments for the day. I was supposed to go to class this morning—yes, I attended college—but I was obviously way too late for that. I also had a dentist appointment that I was supposed to attend, but none of that was as important as the lunch I was supposed to have with my mother. That was what scared me the most. Mother would kill me when she gets home tonight.
I changed to my usual attire: a white lace summer dress and matching flats—mother and manager-approved, of course.
Oh, what I wouldn't give to be able to walk around in jeans and t-shirts. Those pieces of clothing were strictly forbidden the moment I had moved in with my mother, though. I couldn't even remember the last time I had worn sneakers when it wasn't for a job or a workout.
