It doesn't take a real doctor to figure out that the medicine the two people from the upstairs apartment—Karlie and Brad—gave us is the one thing keeping Mr. Chen and William from dying of pain, or, if not dying, then at least screaming in pain. Likely with some very high doses of morphine—pain-inducing medicine, Mr. Chen and William were out cold before the two interim pharmacists were out of the apartment. It seems Karlie knew what she was doing medicine-wise. And Brad, well, he has such a soothing voice that it would be hard, even for me, not to fall asleep listening to him as he consoled Mr. Chen.
